LoL Patch 14.10 was massive, bringing some buffs and nerfs but mainly changes to runes, summoner spells, and items. All of this has shaken up the meta and changed the tier lists. In this article, we will take a look at the best and worst champion picks for Ranked in League of Legends.
We will give several examples of champions per tier, so you can decide for yourself which pick fits your play style and which midlaner will give you the best chances of carrying your team to victory.

Tier List Explanation
This tier list will examine some of the most-played League of Legends champions in the mid-lane.
- D-Tier: You should avoid playing these champions as much as possible.
- C-Tier: Although they can be somewhat decent, you are better off with other picks.
- B-Tier: Viable and reliable in most situations, you can manage rather decently.
- A-Tier: Great options but lacking just slightly either in terms of damage or utility.
- S-Tier: The best champions you can use to ensure you are always victorious.
NOTE: Although this tier list strives to be as objective as possible in terms of viability, you should not limit yourself to strictly adhere to this list, but rather experiment and see which champion feels fun to play with.

League of Legends 14.10: D-Tier Mid Champions
ADC items are going through a lot of changes, and Smolder is suffering the consequences of them. We hope we won't be seeing him in the mid-lane (at least on our team) as he's underperforming. Bear in mind Smolder isn't good in the bot lane either so he's overall not in a good place.
PROS:
- AoE Damage
CONS:
- Squishy
- Dependent on gold and stacks
- Quite weak
This isn't Corki's season either. He's supposedly a late-game player but the wait isn't worth it currently. Corki is too mana-hungry and squishy for the mid-lane in Ranked. Also, not impactful enough.
PROS:
- AoE Damage
CONS:
- Squishy
- Dependent on gold and stacks
- Quite weak
Orianna had her glory days not long ago but she's currently hard stuck in the D-Tier. She's really weak compared to other mages and she's not good even as support. Avoid this champion pick!
PROS:
- Low ban and pick rate
- A lot of utility
- Zoning abilities
CONS:
- Squishy
- Hard to master

League of Legends 14.10: C-Tier Mid Champions
Ezreal hasn't been performing well in the mid-lane for a while now. He's just not powerful enough both in the mid and bot lane. He's one of the champions with the lowest win rate.
PROS:
- Good mobility
- Fast at taking down towers
CONS:
- Not strong enough
- Weak AAs
With the recent changes to items, it seems like the mid-lane is not the right place for ADCs. Similar to Ezreal, Luican is nowhere near dominating the game as a midlaner.
PROS:
- Mobile
- Great duelist
CONS:
- Short range
- Weak early game
Kata is a classic LoL champion but she's currently not a good choice for Ranked. The thing about her is that she's hard to master and a very hit-or-miss pick - you either carry or get completely stomped.
PROS:
- High snowball and carry potential
CONS:
- Very difficult to master, quite easy to feed with her

League of Legends 14.10: B-Tier Mid Champions
Yasuo got a small adjustment in the most recent League of Legends patch. His Critical strike chance multiplier has been lowered to 2x. Riot makes up for this nerf with a Bonus AD for the Excess Critical Strike Chance buff. Without Lethal Tempo, this LoL champion seems to be performing worse than he used to but he's still a decent pick.
PROS:
- Huge carry potential in low elo
- Annoying lane bully
- Dominates team fights
CONS:
- High ban and pick rate
- Low elo players don't play him well (huge feed potential)
Yasuo's brother went through the absolutely same changes in Patch 14.10. Yone is not as strong as he used to be but he's a decent pick in the right hands.
PROS:
- Strong early game
- Lots of carry potential, similar to his brother
- Annoying lane bully, just like Yasuo
CONS:
- High ban and pick rate
LeBlanc has been doing much better since her buff in patch 14.9. We're happy to see this mage out of the D-Tier, however, there's still a lot more to want from her when it comes to her performance.
PROS:
- Low pick and ban rate
- Very mobile
CONS:
- Squishy
- Mana hungry

League of Legends 14.10: A-Tier Mid Champions
LoL Patch 14.10 brought a small buff to Viego, who was suffering from a low win rate and performing way better in the jungle. His Blade of the Ruined King now has a 50% mark healing from minions which will make him viable in the mid-lane once more.
PROS:
- Sustainable in lane
- Good in mid and late-game 1v1
- Good CC
CONS:
- Weak in the early game
- Countered by anti-heal
Neeko is a fun and easy champion who allows clever outplays and great damage. Playing her is not only easy but also enjoyable. You have everything you need at your disposal - AoE, stun, escape and so much more.
Rapid Fire canon lost its AD which isn't great for Twisted Fate. However, this doesn't mean he's a bad pick for Ranked. He's still going strong, just not as strong as he used to.
PROS:
- Easy and effective roaming (you can pop off even if you're losing your lane)
- He looks like Gambit, which is just cool.
CONS:
- No carry potential
- Can feel weak against assassins
This OP support is a surprise in the mid-tier list but she's a good pick. Morgana relies heavily on her stun but let's be honest, it has always been OP! Her powerful shield is just another bonus, making her a viable and unexpected choice.

League of Legends 14.10: S-Tier Mid Champions
The queen of the mid-lane has been back in the S-tier since patch 14.4 and she's here to stay! Ahri is a classic mage pick you shouldn't sleep on. Easy to pick up, especially with a great ability such as her Charm.
PROS:
- Great wave clear
- Amazing mobility
CONS:
- Squishy
- Uses a lot of mana and she's heavily reliant on it
Tristana has been performing amazingly in the mid-lane for a few patches now. The new ADC item changes don't bother her that much as you can opt for Infinity Edge rush.
PROS:
- Strong throughout the whole game
- Easy to pick up and master
CONS:
- Short-range early-game
- Squishy
Brand is the League of Legends champion with the highest win rate, currently at 54%. He's easy to play with some insane damage. The mid-lane will be a breeze to win with him.
PROS:
- Amazing AoE damage
- Easy to pick up and master
CONS:
- Bad utility
- Easily out-sustained
Diana has returned to the mid-lane for a few patches now and we love it. With great mobility and insane damage, she's an amazing pick for Ranked. The best thing about her is that roaming is extremely easy, so you'll have every situation under control.
PROS:
- Mobility
- Roaming
- One combo and the enemy is a goner
- Great in team fights
CONS:
- No easy way out once you go all in
