Patch 14.11 brought many changes to the LoL meta, and you might be wondering what's the next OP pick for solo queue. Since every patch brings a lot of changes to the game, we will be taking a look at the best of the best when it comes to Mid-champions so you can start climbing up the ranked ladder. The recent update buffed and nerfed quite a lot of LoL champions and items so things might look a little different.
We will give several examples of champions per tier, so you can decide for yourself which pick fits your play style and which midlaner will give you the best chances of carrying your team to victory.
Given how much the meta can shake things up, you should pay attention to each patch as your favorite champion might be hit with a nerf or buff.

Tier List Explanation
This tier list will examine some of the most-played League of Legends champions in the mid-lane.
- D-Tier: You should avoid playing these champions as much as possible.
- C-Tier: Although they can be somewhat decent, you are better off with other picks.
- B-Tier: Viable and reliable in most situations, you can manage rather decently.
- A-Tier: Great options but lacking just slightly either in terms of damage or utility.
- S-Tier: The best champions you can use to ensure you are always victorious.
NOTE: Although this tier list strives to be as objective as possible in terms of viability, you should not limit yourself to strictly adhere to this list, but rather experiment and see which champion feels fun to play with.

League of Legends 14.11: D-Tier Mid Champions
We feel bad for Talon mains. He used to be a force to be reckoned with in the mid-lane but now he's a champion to avoid.
PROS:
- Good in the early game
- Easy to pick up
CONS:
- Hard to master
- Very weak in late-game
Orianna had her glory days not long ago but she's currently hard stuck in the D-Tier. She's really weak compared to other mages and she's not good even as support. Avoid this champion pick!
PROS:
- Low ban and pick rate
- A lot of utility
- Zoning abilities
CONS:
- Squishy
- Hard to master

League of Legends 14.11: C-Tier Mid Champions
Swain is on the weaker side in LoL Patch 14.11 when it comes to all roles. We suggest you use him as support, instead of mid-lane.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Lots of AoE damage
- Great in team fights
CONS:
- Mana-dependent and mana-hungry
- Immobile
With the recent changes to items, it seems like the mid-lane is not the right place for ADCs. Similar to Swain, Luican is nowhere near dominating the game as a midlaner.
PROS:
- Mobile
- Great duelist
CONS:
- Short range
- Weak early game
Kata is a classic LoL champion but she's currently not a good choice for Ranked. The thing about her is that she's hard to master and a very hit-or-miss pick - you either carry or get completely stomped.
PROS:
- High snowball and carry potential
CONS:
- Very difficult to master, quite easy to feed with her
Zoe is a champion we haven't seen in the mid-lane for a while now. She's viable only for the dedicated mains who know what they're doing.
This is an odd choice, but the recent Nasus buffs made him an okay choice for mid lane. However, we don't recommend such 'alternative' picks if you're in low elo and you're not that good with the champion.

League of Legends 14.11: B-Tier Mid Champions
Irelia was hit with a nerf to her health growth in 14.11, so she's slightly less viable for LoL Ranked.
PROS:
- Easy CS
- Sustain
- Good burst
CONS:
- Good only with a minion wave
- Hard to pick up and master
Heimerdinger is extremely easy and fun to play, thanks to his turrets. However, this won't be enough to make him OP in Patch 14.11.
PROS:
- Good wave clear
- Great poke and zoning
- Amazing AoE and CC
CONS:
- Squishy
- Can't carry
- Useless without turrets
Neeko is a fun and easy champion who allows clever outplays and great damage. Playing her is not only easy but also enjoyable. You have everything you need at your disposal - AoE, stun, escape and so much more.
LeBlanc has been doing much better since her buff in patch 14.9. We're happy to see this mage out of the D-Tier, however, there's still a lot more to want from her when it comes to her performance.
PROS:
- Low pick and ban rate
- Very mobile
CONS:
- Squishy
- Mana hungry
Corki is doing much better, thanks to the buffs he got in League of Legends patch 14.11. This is a great change from his dire state in the last patch.
PROS:
- AoE Damage
CONS:
- Squishy
- Dependent on gold and stacks
- Quite weak

League of Legends 14.11: A-Tier Mid Champions
Hwei is doing surprisingly well in mid-lane and it seems like Riot has finally brought him back into the game. The nerfs he was hit with don't bother him that much. However, his huge ban rate will be a big obstacle in front of anyone who wants to play him in Ranked.
Yasuo is performing way better since the last patch but beware of his extremely high pick (10%) and ban rate (24%). He's currently the most banned mid-lane LoL champion but we aren't surprised, as he's a perma ban for a lot of players in low elo.
PROS:
- Huge carry potential in low elo
- Annoying lane bully
- Dominates team fights
CONS:
- High ban and pick rate
- Low elo players don't play him well (huge feed potential)
Yone is quite similar to his brother, but his pick and ban rates are slightly better, although still on the bad side.
PROS:
- Strong early game
- Lots of carry potential, similar to his brother
- Annoying lane bully, just like Yasuo
CONS:
- High ban and pick rate
With great mobility and insane damage, Diana is an amazing pick for Ranked. The best thing about her is that roaming is extremely easy, so you'll have every situation under control. She's not as OP as she used to be but she's still an amazing choice!
PROS:
- Mobility
- Roaming
- One combo and the enemy is a goner
- Great in team fights
CONS:
- No easy way out once you go all in
It seems like Aurelion Sol's domination over the S-Tier is finally over, but he's still amazing in Ranked!
Rapid Fire canon lost its AD which isn't great for Twisted Fate. However, this doesn't mean he's a bad pick for Ranked. He's still going strong, just not as strong as he used to.
PROS:
- Easy and effective roaming (you can pop off even if you're losing your lane)
- He looks like Gambit, which is just cool.
CONS:
- No carry potential
- Can feel weak against assassins
This is the second patch in which the OP support is taking over the mid-lane. Morgana relies heavily on her stun but let's be honest, it has always been OP! Her powerful shield is just another bonus, making her a viable and unexpected choice.

League of Legends 14.11: S-Tier Mid Champions
Akshan is popping off in patch 14.11. The item changes are amazing for him and we can't wait to see him in our team on the Summoner's Rift.
PROS:
- Great wave clear
- Amazing mobility
CONS:
- Squishy
- Uses a lot of mana and she's heavily reliant on it
The queen of the mid-lane has been back in the S-tier since patch 14.4 and she's here to stay! Ahri is a classic mage pick you shouldn't sleep on. Easy to pick up, especially with a great ability such as her Charm.
PROS:
- Great wave clear
- Amazing mobility
CONS:
- Squishy
- Uses a lot of mana and she's heavily reliant on it
When hasn't Lux been extremely powerful? She's a menace in the mid-lane and one of those very annoying champions to play against.
Similar to Lux, Fizz is one of the LoL champions who are always dominating their lane and are so hard to play against!
Sylas is absolutely destroying his opponents in 14.11 thanks to his powerful sustain, shields, and amazing damage.
PROS:
- Versatile
- Duelist
CONS:
- Short range
Brand is one of the most OP LoL champions in almost every role for a few patches now and we're surprised Riot hasn't nerfed him yet. He's easy to play with some insane damage. The mid-lane will be a breeze to win with him.
PROS:
- Amazing AoE damage
- Easy to pick up and master
CONS:
- Bad utility
- Easily out-sustained
- High ban rate
Vex might be a surprise in the Mid-lane S-Tier but she's an amazing counter for almost all champions in the current meta.
