Earlier today, Matt Leung-Harrison revealed details about the upcoming League of Legends Patch 14.7 on X. His post suggests a shake up the meta once again with a series of adjustments aimed specifically at the Support role. Unfortunately, we have bad news for Sups. Here's what you need to know:

Support Changes - No Damage For You!
One of the most notable trends in this upcoming LoL patch 14.7 is an "attempt" at rebalancing the power dynamics between supports and other roles on the Summoner's Rift. Historically, supports have often been relegated to a secondary role focused primarily on providing utility and crowd control, while their damage output was quite weak. This put them in a difficult place when it comes to solo climbing in Ranked. Patch 14.7 will reduce the damage of supports while increasing their utility outputs.
By scaling back the damage capabilities of supports and amplifying their utility, Riot devs are trying to encourage more strategic and coordinated playstyles. However, this will make Support a completely "background" role, meant to help the team without having any carrying potential through damage output.

Champion and Item Nerfs, or Riot Making Sure Every Support is Equally Weak
LoL Patch 14.7 will include adjustments aimed at specific champions, most notably Camille. The top laner found huge success as a support in the last few patches. However, Riot Games will return Camille to the Top lane and keep her there for good. We hope this means her performance in Top will be boosted, instead of just making her a bad pick for Bot.
However, it's worth noting that not all supports are receiving adjustments in Patch 14.7. Janna, for instance, who got a huge buff at the end of Season 13, is left out of the list of champions undergoing changes. But this does not mean she's safe! Janna will get itemization nerfs through items such as Zaz'Zak's and Mandate. Further adjustments of this champion may be necessary depending on the effectiveness of these changes.
Although Galio and Karma got adjusted in the most recent patch, they will receive another nerf! It's mostly aimed at Karma support, now that her Mid lane is weaker. This isn't good news, keeping in mind that the last few patches were the first time we've seen Karma gain popularity in ages. We don't want to see her be forgotten once more. It's important to note that Lux will also get a buff, but it will probably be aimed at her Mid performance which is lacking.
- Supports will have their damage nerfed, while increasing their utility outputs
- Camille will return to Top Lane
- Galio and Karma are getting nerfed again
- Janna won't get nerfed but she will be weaker through itemization
- Lux will receive a buff
In summary, League of Legends Patch 14.7 doesn't promise anything good to Support. This role has been left vulnerable in solo Ranked, completely dependent on the team. The fact that Riot makes it harder for supports to climb on their own, without a buddy on their team to carry them, is disappointing. Stay tuned for more information upon the release of Patch 14.7.
