Tank Lux Build Explained

Lux Tank Build

This Lux build was discovered by Yozu, who wanted to play Lux like a tank. You can use this build in bot, mid, or even top lane. Lux is able to deal burst while also surviving burst. Her tankiness doesn't mean she's doing less damage!

The build abuses new items in League of Legends Season 14 and some rune changes, making her shield absolutely OP. The overall idea is that the new LoL item Unending Despair's anguish passive applies Conqueror, and it heals for 250% of the damage it does. With Riftmaker and Liandry's Torment, this damage is even more insane! Let's get into the details.

Tank Lux Runes

Tank Lux Runes

To play tank Lux in League of Legends, it's best to pick Conqueror, which is applied every 5 seconds. Unending Despair's anguish passive is applied every 7 seconds, which means that by using Ingenious Hunter, the cooldown for the re-proc of Unending Despair will be 4 seconds. By this logic, Unending Despair will permanently reapply throughout the whole match.

Eyeball Collection will compensate for the lack of AP and will be very helpful in snowballing.

Tank Lux Items

Rod of Ages

Rod of Ages

  • When you've picked up Lux Tank in LoL, you need to rush Rod of Ages, helping you gain 20 Health, 20 Mana, and 4 Ability Power every 60 seconds up to 10 times, for a maximum of 200 Health, 200 Mana, and 40 Ability Power.
Liandry's Anguish

Liandry's Torment

  • Next, build either Liandry's or Riftmaker, according to the situation. Liandry's Torment makes it so dealing damage with abilities causes enemies to burn, while Riftmaker relies on omnivamp, healing you for a percentage of damage you deal. You'll need both of these items.

Unending Despair

  • The third item is Unending Despair, which is where this whole build starts coming together.
Riftmaker

Riftmaker

  • The next item is either Liandry's Torment or Riftmaker. The last item for this Lux build is situational and up to you.

At this point, you're supposed to heal around 150 hp with each proc from Unending Despair, along with 3600 HP.

Tank Lux Play Style

The skill order for this Tank Lux build is E > W > Q. Play safely in the early levels before you get a few items and rely on ganks, especially if you've picked top lane on the Summoner's Rift. This build puts a lot of emphasis on Lux's shield, so do not forget to abuse it.
