Along with the plethora of new additions, revamps, and balance changes to League of Legends in 2025, the dev team also shared that they will be adding some new runes in the Domination and Sorcery trees centered around vision and trinkets and ultimate ability cooldown reduction.

We will take a look at what we can expect to see once the first season of 2025 starts in January 2025. As with every new League of Legends update, we can expect some drastic meta shifts either because of the new neutral objective, early-game aggression rewards, or even the regenerating Nexus turrets.

We will take a look at the three new Domination Tree runes and the new Sorcery Tree rune that will be added to LoL in Season 1 2025. Keep in mind that some adjustments might be made based on player feedback and continuous testing on the PBE.

Sorcery Tree Rune

Axiom Arcanist Rune

Axiom Arcanist

Axiom Arcanist

  • Replaces Nullifying Orb rune
  • Ultimate has 12% increased damage, healing, and shielding
  • AoE damage is instead increased by 8%
  • Takedowns reduce the current ultimate cooldown by 7%
  • Elise, Jayce, Nidalee, and Zoe will substitute this for Nimbus Cloak

Domination Tree Runes

Sixth Sense Rune

Sixth Sense

Sixth Sense

  • Automatically sense a nearby untracked and unseen ward, tracking it for the team.
  • Level 11: Also reveal the ward for 10s.
  • This effect has a [300 Melee || 360 Ranged] second cooldown.
  • Replaces the Zombie Ward rune

This is a great tool for roaming champions, including both Junglers and Supports, making it more worthwhile to look for cross-map plays and contest neutral objectives by denying enemy vision.

Grisly Mementos Rune

Grisly Mementos

Grisly Mementos

  • Collect 1 memento on champions takedowns, up to 25 total.
  • Gain 4 Trinket Ability Haste for each collected. In game modes where vision Trinkets do not exist, instead gain 2 Summoner Spell Haster per.
  • Replaces the Ghost Poro rune

This is a very powerful rune once again for Junglers and Supports, with champions like Fiddlesticks fully utilizing this to bait enemies or consistently gain vision over important map objectives.

Deep Ward Rune

Deep Ward

Deep Ward

  • Your wards in the enemy jungle are Deep. Deep wards gain +1 extra health and +[30-45]s increased duration (+[30-120]s for Trinket stealth wards).
  • Level 9: Wards in the river are also Deep.
  • Replaces the Eyeball Collection rune

This rune will add more importance to vision, especially for champions who like to roam or surprise enemies deep into enemy territory. This will also force players to be more careful when clearing wards given the added health.

And that covers all of the new runes coming to League of Legends Season 1 in 2025. We might expect some tuning, but overall, vision has been drastically increased, making it far more important than before, and hopefully forcing more players to buy Control Wards.
