LoL: Skarner Rework - Possible Release Date, Splash Art and More

League of Legends fans have known about the Skarner rework for a while now. It's not a secret that the champion is getting a fresh new look and set of abilities. After a few delays, LoL is finally ready to release the Skarner rework. It's finally here! Here's everything we know about it so far:

When is the Skarner Rework Release Date?

League of Legends fans can expect the brand-new reworked Skarner to make his debut in patch 14.7 (April 3) which will be fairly soon. 

Reworked Skarner Abilities

Skarner will undergo a complete overhaul, not only visually but also in terms of his abilities. Here are Skarner's official new abilities:

• Quaking (Passive): Skarner’s Attacks, Shattered Earth, Upheaval, and Impale, apply Quaking for a period of time. At max Quaking stacks, enemies take percent health magic damage over the duration.
• Shattered Earth (Q1): Rip a boulder from the earth that empowers Attacks and can be thrown as a powerful projectile.
• Upheaval (Q2): Rip a boulder from the earth that empowers Attacks and can be thrown as a powerful projectile. 
• Seismic Bastion (W): Skarner gains a shield and sends out a shockwave that damages, increasing his shield on Champion hits.
• Ixtal’s Impact (E): Skarner charges, passing through terrain. If he collides with a Champion or monster he can slam them into a wall to damage and stun them. 
• Impale (R): Skarner lashes his tails out to suppress enemy champions. During this time, Skarner can move freely and will drag his helpless victims around with him.

New Skarner Visuals and Skins

We already know how Skarner will look once he's reworked in League of Legends. Devs had nothing against sharing some visuals with the fans. The model isn't that different from the original Skarner, keeping his Scorpion-like shape. However, it seems like he has 3 tails and the model is way less outdated. We can expect the following skins to be remade as well:

• Battlecast Alpha Skarner - 1820 RP
• Cosmic Sting Skarner - 1350 RP
• Earthrune Skarner - 520 RP
• Guardian of the Sands Skarner - 975 RP
• Sandscourge Skarner - 975 RP

Riot Games has already released a mysterious teaser image, which isn't the official splash art but it still looks pretty nice. His image seems to be drawn over an ancient rock, and it looks as if he's protecting something, probably a palace or a treasure of some sort. The art was created by Kudos Productions.

Skarner New Skin Lore

Skarner's skins in League of Legends have been enhanced with lore, a recent addition to the game's world-building. Previously, these skins lacked detailed descriptions, but now they offer players a deeper insight into Skarner's character and background.

• Earthrune Skarner used to be the guardian of an ancient civilization that collapsed. Skarner hopes that one day he can rebuild everything lost, but until then, he has sworn to protect all that he has left—the ruins of what once was a magical place.

• Battlecast Alpha Skarner is the first robot of his kind, fueled with rage.

• Soundscourge Skarner is the Demon of the Old Deserts, luring lost souls with his voice
