T1 vs WBG Game 1 of the LoL Worlds 2023 Finals
The first game to decide which team will lead the charge in this Bo5 series.
WBG Champions |
T1 Champions |
Aatrox, Maokai, Jayce, Senna, Tahm Kench | Yone, Lee Sin, Ahri, Kalista, Renata |
A very interesting start to the series as WBG looks to stomp in the mid-game with their composition favoring a lot of team fights, whereas T1 went for an explosive playmaking team. Oner's Lee Sin will be quite crucial for T1 to establish a lead, but Weiwei was quick to punish Faker's aggressive play and secure First Blood for Xiaohu's Jayce. T1 quickly struck back by securing the first Drake of the game.
After getting Herald, T1 was able to quickly punish the bad positioning on the side of WBG as Faker dashed in and secured a kill onto Crisp, but Weiwei answered back on top lane and killed Zeus. A very close 2v2 on the top as Light's ultimate saved Weiwei and led to Zeus' second death.

Another explosive fight around the topside river as WBG again punished the overly aggressive play by Oner and picked up a shutdown as well. An incredible performance by T1 as Xiaohu barely survived Lee Sin's combo, but the LCK's 2nd seed was able to get three kills from the skirmish and get the first turret of the game.
Another riveting fight by T1 as they got their first ace and secured Baron at only 22 minutes into the first game of the series. A phenomenal display of skill and knowledge. A drastic 7K gold lead is what separates both teams, with T1 looking to further push WBG into a corner.
After securing Cloud Soul and their second Baron, T1 looked to siege the LPL's 4th seed, but the gold lead was just too massive for any counterplay attempts on the side of WBG. A very convincing win as T1 led the series 1-0.

Aatrox, Maokai, Ahri, Kalista, Senna | Gwen, Nocturne, Sylas, Draven, Renata |
An incredible display of skill in the top lane as Zeus secured First Blood following a great gank by Oner's Nocturne. T1 is looking to dominate the second game as well, with WBG looking to kill Zeus on the top lane, but the LPL's 4th seed is struggling to gain any significant advantage.
Despite all attempts from WBG, T1 is simply dominating them at every turn, punishing the slightest mistakes with Oner's Nocturne shining through to allow Gumayusi's Draven to further scale into becoming a monster. Zeus is untouchable on his Gwen and his pressure allowed T1 to further accelerate their lead in the second game of the Bo5 series.
T1 with an absolutely ruthless stomp as WBG was unable to gain any advantage, as after taking Baron, the LCK's 2nd seed quickly sieged the enemy base, leading the series 2-0 in a very convincing fashion.

T1 Champions |
Kennen, Bel'Veth, Azir, Varus, Bard | Aatrox, Lee Sin, Akali, Xayah, Rakan |
An explosive start to the game as all lanes saw action with Oner and Zeus securing first blood onto TheShy, but WBG quickly struck back and got a kill onto Keria, equalizing the score 1-1 in terms of kills. WBG was able to get some more kills onto T1, but ultimately the LCK's 2nd seed simply was able to quickly neutralize any advantage in the game, and secure their second dragon of the game.
The third game in the series has been looking quite equal, but the small advantages T1 was able to collect allowed for Faker to pop off in a very important skirmish around mid, as the Unkillable Demon God got a triple kill on his Akali. With T1 setting its eyes on Baron, WBG are seemingly to start to fall into a corner with everything on the line for the LPL's 2nd seed.

At the precipice of winning it all, T1 look to finish the game soon, as all hope for WBG is fading away to the might of the LCK. WBG has not showed any weaknesses, but rather T1 was just playing much better, more synchronized and impactful throughout the entire series.
A phenomal performance by all of T1, as they got their 4th World Championship title, stomping the LPL teams in a convincing 3-0 series. Congratulations to your Worlds 2023 winners in the face of T1!
