Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra - Everything We Know So Far

We had a taste of a new Marvel superhero game when the story trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra dropped on March 20. Our first view of the game came at the State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2024. Award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig is creating a video game that feels like you are in a movie while still being full of the player agency you would expect from an action game. 

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Storyline Explained

In the trailer, we see that the story of Marvel 1943 will take place in Nazi-occupied Paris. Considering the title is Rise of Hydra, we will most likely see the beginning of the evil organization and how it becomes one of Captain America's most dangerous enemies. 

Not only will we be seeing Captain America in 1943 France, but it also looks like Black Panther will be showing his feline face in the battle for freedom. The king of Wakanda at this point in history is T'challa's grandfather, Azzuri. He seems to be both an ally and foe of Captain America as they fight the Nazi occupation. 

There are going to be four main characters. We know we will see Captain America and Black Panther. Skydance New Media has said that Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, will be joining Steve Rogers. Helping Azzuri, and possibly the whole team when the two super soldiers learn to play nice, is Nanali, a Wakandan spy.

If Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra does see the beginning of Hydra then we may be facing villains such as the Red Skull and Zola, though we do not have any confirmed enemies other than the Nazis yet. 

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Gameplay and Visuals

In the trailer, we saw a couple of minutes of cinematics that showed off the amazing visuals Marvel 1943 will be using. We are unsure how the gameplay will change as you take control of each character but we can assume a difference in combat for all four heroes.

The developers have insisted that the visuals we can see in the trailer are actually what Rise of Hydra will look like, and they haven't given us a fake demo as other games have done. They said what we see is what we will get. The advanced visuals and beautiful aspects of the game come from Unreal Engine 5. 

Amy Hennig said that without Unreal Engine 5, what they are doing in Marvel 1943 would be impossible to achieve. She goes on to say that with this new advancement, they will be able to create amazing games that feel like we are watching a movie we can control.

This wasn't possible in the past but now technology has caught up to their dream of making an action video game that has the visual effects of cinema. So, we all have high expectations about what we will see when Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra comes out.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Release Date

Unfortunately, we do not have a confirmed release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. We know that we expect the game to launch sometime in 2025 but as of yet, we have no idea if we will see it earlier or later in the year. As Skydance New Media unveils more details about the narrative-driven game, we will have more information to take an educated guess.
