Unlike the previous Spider-Man titles, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which featured humorous subway animations during fast travel, Spider-Man 2's fast-travel is almost instantaneous. However, discussions on forums revealed that there was some confusion regarding a bar that fills up when selecting fast-travel destinations.
Insomniac's Director of Core Technologies, Mike Fitzgerald, addressed this concern. He explained that the "hold-to-confirm" bar is not a loading bar but merely a confirmation indicator. Initially, they considered removing it, but they decided to keep it to ensure that players could confirm their choices.

Fitzgerald emphasized that making the fast-travel feature user-friendly was more important than creating an entirely instantaneous experience. This way, players have the opportunity to change their mind while the "hold-to-confirm" indicator is filling up.
While it may take a few seconds to confirm fast-travel choices in Spider-Man 2, the game has been praised for its ability to let players quickly move to different locations in its expansive open world. The game pushes the limits of the PlayStation 5's advanced hardware, and players can experience its fast-travel feature when it launches this Friday.
