Metaphor: ReFantazio isn't quite straightforward—there are ways to end the game prematurely with a bad ending. There are no known benefits to the bad endings—you can get to them if you make the wrong choice, but you can recover from your mistake and keep grinding towards the true ending. Let's discuss all the endings in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and how to get them.

Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Endings

There are four total endings you can encounter in Metaphor: ReFantazio - three bad endings and one true ending. If you accidentally make a choice that leads you to a bad ending, the game will roll its credits and you will be taken to the main menu. Don't worry—you can reload the game from your last save after that. You can make it into a habit to save before making a choice, so you don't have to start the whole day over.

On 09/24, you will find that the Prince has been slain while you explore Ancient Eldan Sanctum. You'll then have a dialogue with a mysterious voice. Select the choices "It came to nothing." → "It was all a mistake..." → "... Lies dead before me.", or refuse to accept your real identity as the Prince to get this bad ending.

During the final battle with Louis at Tyrant’s Star Louis on 10/26, you'll be teleported to Shibuya, Tokyo and you'll speak to More. Select the choice "I understand. You're right." to progress to this ending. If you want to progress to the true ending, make sure to select "I don't want to give up."

The One True Ending

Defeat Louis in the battle at Tyrant’s Star Louis on 10/26. As long as you don't make any wrong choices in dialogue, you'll automatically progress to this ending and you don't have to do anything else. Naturally, beating all three Louis transformations is hard, but that's all you need to do.

Note: If you clear the Trial of the Dragons Quest Line during your adventure, Neuras will acknowledge that during the ending cut scene.
