Reportedly, Modern Warfare 3, the upcoming installment in the Call of Duty franchise for this year, is said to include remastered versions of every multiplayer map that was present in Modern Warfare 2 from 2009.
The upcoming release of Call of Duty in 2023 is generating considerable buzz. After prolonged speculation about whether this year's title would be a complete game or just an expansion, a series of leaks are now emerging, hinting at substantial changes and a wealth of fresh content that may be on the horizon.
Continuing from the revelations about weapon specifications and even possible adjustments to time-to-kill (TTK), a reputable leaker in the Call of Duty community on Twitter has recently unveiled what appears to be a list of maps in the game at launch. Interestingly, these maps are reminiscent of those that veteran Call of Duty players might find very familiar.
If the latest information is accurate, Modern Warfare 3 is poised to launch with meticulously remastered renditions of every original multiplayer map that debuted with Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009. The following iconic maps are reportedly among those that will be recreated for the new release:
- Afghan
- Derail
- Estate
- Favela
- Highrise
- Invasion
- Karachi
- Quarry
- Rundown
- Rust
- Scrapyard
- Skidrow
- Sub Base
- Terminal
- Underpass
- Wasteland
It's noteworthy, however, that as with any early disclosure, it's wise to treat this information with a dose of skepticism until it's officially confirmed. Nevertheless, this particular leak seems to align with earlier insights from 2022.
Initial rumors hinted at the possibility of a "greatest hits map pack" for Modern Warfare 2 down the line. This hypothetical pack was anticipated to reintroduce "almost all" of the multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2's 2009 release, reimagined for the modern gaming era.
Given the conflicting reports at that time regarding whether Call of Duty 2023 would stand as a standalone premium release or function as an expansion to Modern Warfare 2, the method by which these maps would be reintroduced remained unclear.
However, with Modern Warfare 3 now confirmed as a full-fledged title, the current leaks suggest that players can expect the entire lineup of classic multiplayer maps to be accessible in this new sequel.
