Infinity Ward has released a compact update on August 8th, which brings resolution to the lingering UAV bug in Modern Warfare 2.

After the Season 4 update, Modern Warfare 2 expert TheXclusiveAce uncovered a game-altering UAV bug. Typically, only Advanced UAVs could effectively trail an enemy's movements in real-time as they navigated the map. However, a glitch inadvertently allowed standard UAVs to perform the same function.

This bug became a significant concern due to the discrepancy in kill requirements for each type of UAV. Acquiring a standard UAV necessitated just three kills, while an Advanced UAV demanded a more substantial tally of 12 kills. Adding to the complexity, the bug exhibited random occurrences and lacked any semblance of consistency.

The Season 5 update's patch notes indicated that the developers had addressed the UAV functionality, yet TheXclusiveAce confirmed that issues endured even after the update. Infinity Ward took heed of these complaints and intensified their efforts.

Resolution for Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer UAV Bug in Season 5

TheXclusiveAce encountered difficulty pinpointing the root cause of malfunctioning UAVs in Modern Warfare 2. Through exhaustive testing, this content creator narrowed down the issues to three behaviors: UAVs functioning correctly, red dots momentarily appearing, or red dots moving for approximately two seconds. In the August 8th update, Infinity Ward stated: "Fixed an issue where using a weapon with an Integrated Suppressor will ping a Player’s location on the minimap with an active enemy UAV despite Ghost being active."

It remains to be seen if this fix comprehensively addresses all UAV-related problems in multiplayer, but optimism is high that the primary issue has been resolved.
