Roadhog has been a controversial tank hero since his debut in Overwatch 1 due to his ability to eliminate squishy heroes with his powerful hook combo. He has undergone several changes over time to balance his strength and prevent him from becoming a source of easy ultimate charge for the enemy team.

Now, after months of teasers, Roadhog is receiving a more significant rework than ever before. In a recent blog post, Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed the timeline for this rework, while Executive Producer Jared Neuss hinted at some buffs for the tank.

Roadhog Rework Planned for Overwatch 2 Season 7

Keller mentioned that the development team has been closely monitoring Roadhog's underwhelming performance and has scheduled his rework for the midseason update in Season 7.

This means that Season 7 will witness major changes to two heroes, as Sombra is already set to receive a "lethal" rework at the start of the season.

Additionally, Producer Jared Neuss expressed agreement with the opinion that Roadhog requires some buffs. This suggests that the team intends to boost Roadhog's capabilities.

Previously, Lead Hero Designer Alec Dawson had hinted that the rework would make Roadhog less "selfish," potentially by providing utility to support teammates rather than focusing solely on securing eliminations.

While Season 7 won't introduce a new hero, the significant changes to both Roadhog and Sombra, including potential new abilities, will bring a fresh dynamic to the hero roster.
