The latest Overwatch 2 patch has been released across multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. This update brings adjustments to the newest support hero, Illari, along with updates to Player Progression and various bug fixes.

Illari Nerfs for Improved Balance

Illari, the DPS-healer hybrid support hero, has quickly made her presence felt in the game. To ensure a more balanced experience in competitive play, the developers have introduced some nerfs. Notably, these changes are less drastic than what professional players initially anticipated.

  • Captive Sun Ultimate Nerf:

    • Barriers can now block the Captive Sun ability, offering increased counterplay.
    • The duration of the Sunstruck effect has been reduced by one second.
    • The projectile size of Captive Sun has been diminished, making it harder for heroes like D.Va to intercept it using Defense Matrix.
  • Healing Pylon Nerf:

    • Healing Pylon's shields have been lowered, and its healing power has been reduced from 40 to 30. This change aims to make her less overwhelming to face.

Player Progression System Updates

The patch also brings changes to the Player Progression system, primarily recalibrating the experience points (XP) required for leveling up heroes, game modes, and roles. Notably, the Wins sub-badge level-up requirement has been adjusted from 2 to 1 for all categories, along with a rebalancing of the granted XP.
