Support heroes have maintained a dominant position in the Overwatch 2 meta for an extended period, despite their relative frailty when the sequel was first released.
With their exceptional utility and survivability, many players have expressed concerns about the "healing creep" and called on the developers to take action.
According to Game Director Aaron Keller, the development team has devised plans to address the growing power of support heroes without rendering them as vulnerable as they were at launch.

Nerfs Are Coming to The Support Role
In a recent blog post, Keller stated that the developers have been attentive to community feedback and are determined to address the "rising power level in the meta" for support heroes.
Keller confirmed that a set of changes would be implemented in the mid-season patch, impacting "many" of the support heroes in the game.
While the developers plan to target the utility of these heroes and make them less resilient, Keller emphasized the need for a cautious approach to avoid recreating the initial helplessness felt by support heroes at launch. However, the aim is to reduce the overall sustain and survivability currently present in the game.
