Balancing Roadhog, a powerful tank with substantial health and potential for one-shot eliminations, has posed challenges for Overwatch developers since the game's inception.

Over the years, the development team has tweaked this tank's attributes by reducing his damage and making adjustments to his notorious hook ability. However, Roadhog never appears to reach a balanced state.

There's potential for change in Season 7, as Blizzard recently unveiled details about Roadhog's rework and how they intend to fine-tune his abilities in the next update.

The Roadhog Rework Has Been Delayed

In a recent blog post, Game Director Aaron Keller announced that Roadhog's rework is receiving some last-minute adjustments and will no longer be included in the mid-season patch. Instead, it will be released later in Season 7. The delay is due to additional tweaks to his reworked primary fire and the Take a Breather ability.

Furthermore, the Director hinted at the addition of a brand-new ability to Roadhog's arsenal but refrained from providing further details.

Although Keller did not specify the exact nature of these changes, it's worth noting that he did not mention Roadhog's hook or Whole Hog ultimate. However, the development team has indicated that the tank's core abilities will remain unchanged.

The nature of this new ability remains unclear, but considering the significant adjustment to Hog's primary fire, it might be related to his alternate fire.

In any case, as we approach the reworked Roadhog's release, we will have the opportunity to see the innovations the team has in store in the coming weeks.
