The tank role is no exception, and keeping pace with the competitive landscape has never been so crucial. So, which tank heroes should you be maining in ranked play? We've got you covered!

F Tier Heroes

Roadhog:

Stuck in the Trenches

Roadhog finds himself in a challenging spot yet again in Season 7. Despite his intimidating hook, he remains one of the weakest tanks in the game in regards to win rate and pick rate. Other tank heroes have found their home in the meta, while Roadhog's limitations are evident. Until his eagerly awaited rework arrives, it's likely that Roadhog will continue to hold the title of the lowest winrate tank in Overwatch 2.

D Tier Heroes

Wrecking Ball

A Skill-Dependent Choice

Wrecking Ball lands in the D tier for this season's meta. In the hands of a skilled player, he can be a force to be reckoned with. However, Wrecking Ball struggles to find value in less organized play. The recent buff to his bullet spread is a step in the right direction but may not be enough to compensate for his inherent difficulties. The new Sombra rework is also a massive concern for Ball mains given how powerful her Hack can be when employed against the hamster. Avoid unless you're a one-trick!

C Tier Heroes

Reinhardt

The Brawl Comp King

Reinhardt charges into the C tier for another patch, maintaining his position from previous seasons. While Reinhardt remains a powerful tank in compositions based around Symmetra and Bastion, he continues to be outclassed by the likes of Zarya, Orisa, and Junker Queen in many other team setups. However, Reinhardt's kit rewards high-skill play, and mastering him can overcome his less favorable matchups, especially in the lower and medium ranks. All in all, the crusader is in a great spot and will continue to get work done so long as remains a space-claiming monster.

Winston

The Master of High Ground

At C tier, Winston continues to make waves on maps like Dorado and Gibraltar, where controlling high ground is paramount. His ability to disrupt opponents and maintain map control is unmatched in these scenarios. However, Winston's effectiveness often hinges on team coordination. To maximize his potential, Winston players need teammates who can dive with him. Genji and Sombra are prime examples, as their mobility and burst damage synergize seamlessly with Winston's playstyle. Without a team comp that caters to monkey's aggressive playstyle, he can be quickly out-gunned by enemy bunkers.

B Tier Heroes

Zarya

Too Teamwork-Dependent?

Zarya finds herself at the bottom of the B tier this season. Recent changes to her bubble mechanics, where her bubble buffs were reverted, have left her more reliant on teamwork than ever before. In the lower and medium ranks, where coordination can be lacking, this can be a major hindrance to her performance. The reduction in bubble size has been particularly detrimental to her energy reserves.

Doomfist

Pounding His Way into B Tier

Doomfist enters the B tier of the Season 7 meta, thanks to changes to his Slam and block that have boosted his overall power level. Unlike Wrecking Ball, who faces challenges from Sombra, Doomfist has the tools to eliminate Sombra quickly, provided she doesn't land her Hack ability.

Doomfist will prove to be an influential pick in Season 7, offering substantial disruption and burst damage. His versatility in dealing with squishy threats fast adds to his value, making him a solid choice for those looking to make a significant solo impact on the battlefield.

D.VA

The Diver's Dream

B tier! D.Va remains a formidable pick heading into Season 7, especially given the reversion of Zarya's buffs, one of her biggest counters. D.Va excels on all dive maps, where she can dictate the flow of play by focusing dive targets while rapidly repositioning to protect her backline teammates. Her versatility and dive capabilities make her an excellent choice for dive comp enthusiasts this season.

A Tier Heroes

Ramattra

A Versatile A-Tier Pick

Ramattra secures a spot in the A tier with his immense versatility. A cooldown reduction to his Nemesis Form empowers him to switch between defending corners and attacking enemy spaces more frequently, making him an adaptable asset in all kinds of situations. His Omnic Form remains a potent tool for breaking down enemy bunkers, making him effective at all ranges, and an amazing 'all-rounder' for any tank player unsure of what to main in Season 7!

S Tier Heroes

Orisa

Unwavering S-Tier Dominance

Orisa, an S-tier hero in Season 6, continues her reign at the top. A minor 5% damage reduction nerf to her Fortify ability is unlikely to diminish her impact in Season 7. Orisa's tools are particularly valuable in repelling Ramattra in his Nemesis Form, making her a key asset in a meta likely to see Ramattra's pick rate increase. If you're not keeping Orisa in your playbook already, now is surely the time.

Junkerqueen

An S-Tier Regular

Junker Queen makes yet another showing in the S tier, owing to the notable nerfs to her competition and the rising popularity of the tanks she counters. Sigma and Ramattra find it challenging to outdamage her healing capabilities, while her Shotgun and Knife deal more damage than ever before, lending strong poke capabilities to a hero traditionally focused on melee combat. An all-around potent hero choice for Season 7, particularly for those tank mains who prefer heroes with a more 'solo carry' playstyle.

Sigma

The Rising Star of the Season

Sigma emerges as a breakout pick for Season 7 after an impressive showing in the Overwatch League Playoffs, in which his ability to match Orisa head-on was on clear display. His kit excels in both brawl and poke metas, allowing him to respond to surges of incoming damage effectively. Additionally, Sigma stands tall against Ramattra's Nemesis Form, as his Accretion ability becomes incredibly easy to hit. Despite requiring more mechanical skill than many other popular tanks, Sigma is well worth mastering in Season 7!
