Overwatch New Hero Hazard - All Abilities, Release Date & More

Overwatch 2 has officially welcomed Hazard, the 42nd playable hero in its roaster. This punk rocker will shake up the game and its meta when he launches at the start of Season 14 in December. Before his official release, players can get an exclusive preview during a playtest weekend from November 22 to 25, where Hazard will be available in Overwatch's Quick Play mode.

Who is Hazard?

Hazard is a rebel with a cause. This punk-inspired tank grew up amidst hardship, eventually finding his place with the Phreaks—a group of body-mod enthusiasts who became his chosen family. 

The Blizzard team originally imagined him as a monstrous villain during development but Hazard’s design turned into a relatable hero.

Hazard’s Playstyle

Hazard is a hybrid tank with a unique playstyle, somewhere between dive and brawl strategies. His kit is mobility-focused, allowing him to aggressively pressure backlines while holding his ground on the front line. 

All Hazard Abilities in Overwatch 2

Here’s a breakdown of his full ability kit:

Primary Weapon: Bonespur

• Type: Close-to-midrange shotgun.
• Fires bursts of spikes, capable of headshots.
• Effective for poking enemies at midrange and dealing devastating damage up close.

Secondary Ability: Spike Guard

• Effect: Blocks incoming frontal damage while retaliating with homing Vanadium spikes.
• Hazard regenerates ammo during this ability, adding sustain in prolonged fights.

Jagged Wall

• Effect: Deploys a spiked wall that sticks to surfaces, including walls and ceilings.
• Damages and knocks back enemies who touch it.
• Synergizes with Hazard’s Vault passive for scaling walls or gaining high ground.

Violent Leap

• Effect: Hazard leaps forward to close gaps or reposition.
• Can be activated again mid-leap to unleash a devastating slash, dealing damage and knocking back enemies.
• This ability is key for diving into backlines or creating space on the battlefield.

Passive: Vault

• Hazard can scale short walls and grab ledges, enhancing his vertical mobility.

Ultimate: Downpour

• Effect: Rains spikes over a targeted area, immobilizing enemies on impact.
• This ultimate not only roots enemies in place but also bypasses cover, making it a game-changer in team fights.
