Leveling up characters in Path of Exile can be tedious, especially after finishing the campaign and getting around level 75. Thanks to the new and reworked Scarabs, leveling in maps has become a breeze as long as you can afford it. This strategy is great for alt characters, considering you’ll need some currency or materials stacked up.

How Does the New Leveling Strategy Work in Path of Exile?

To start, you’ll need a complete Atlas tree so you can benefit from all the useful passives. This strategy works by going into a map, and grabbing as many Shrines as possible, preferably at least 8, before starting to clear the map since we'll be using the new Domination Scarab of Teaching. You’ll also want to have an additional mechanic like Breach for the most amount of experience obtainable since it adds tons of extra monsters to each map.

What Scarabs to Run With the New Leveling Strategy in Path of Exile

First off, you'll definitely need to get a Domination Scarab of Teaching as it gives the benefit of receiving 30% more experience for each shrine you currently have active. You also have to use a regular Domination Scarab to increase the amount of Shrines on the map. Last but not least, you add 2 of the Breach Scarabs. You can add an extra Domination modifier from your map device for even more Shrines.

Other useful items you can get are the new Allflame Embers, which were added with the new Necropolis League, and more specifically Item level 83 Allflame Embers of Untainted which provide greatly increased experience to Packs of monsters.

Useful Items for the New Leveling Strategy in Path of Exile

If your build can run it, The Gull Raven Mask will be the most useful unique item you can use. The lesser Shrines you get from the item don’t get the extra experience from the Domination Scarab of Teaching but we use it for the 50% increased Duration of Shrine Effects it provides. This means we’ll be affected by more Shrines for longer, gaining a lot more experience in the process.

Another item we can use is the Blunderbore if your build is lacking some power. This item increases the effect of Shrine Buffs you receive. It should give you a decent power boost if your character can use it.

How to Set Up Your Atlas for the New Leveling Strategy in Path of Exile

This new strategy in Path of Exile requires you to grab a lot of the Domination nodes on the tree. Besides those, you’ll also want to spec into the other mechanic you’re running, for example, Breach, and you can also get Eater of Worlds nodes. These are some examples of Atlas Trees by Zizaran and Empyriangaming running this strategy. For a breakdown of the strategy and some gameplay, you can check out Zizaran’s video:
