Payday 3 will be getting a new heist, new weapons, mask, new enemy type & more

Payday 3 Dev Update 2 Introduces New DLC 'Syntax Error'
Starbreeze Studios, Overkill Software

Payday 3 is getting its first paid DLC for this year since its release in September 2023. The dev update video shares some information regarding the design philosophy behind the narrative, cosmetic, and gameplay changes coming to the game. Starbreeze Studios is looking to make up for the lackluster launch of Payday 3, so hopefully this new DLC justifies all of the mishaps so far.

We will be getting new weapons, cosmetics, a new heist, a new enemy type, and more. We also gained some insights as to how the DLC model will function for players who opt not to purchase the paid DLC and we get a glimpse of what is to come in December 2023.

The DLC will follow the same design as Payday 2's DLC as it will be packaged in a bundle containing a Tailor Pack, Weapon Pack, and the Heist itself. We will be examining all of the new content so let's get started!

Payday 3 Syntax Error New Enemy

We will first take a look at the new enemy that will be trying to stop the Payday gang in New York called the Techie. This enemy will only be available in the new heist for now, but the devs have shared that they will be looking to add him to the other heists in the future.

The new enemy will be wielding a large backpack, possibly housing the drones it deploys to stop the Payday gang.

The new enemy will try to avoid detection and inflict as much damage as possible before he is found by the players, so you will need to scout the area to prevent him from dealing too much damage.

In the video, we can see multiple drones being piloted so that means you will have not only to deal with the police force, but these weaponized drones seeking to stop you in your tracks.

Payday 3 Syntax Error New Skill Line

The DLC will also include a brand-new skill line called Scrambler. It will primarily focus on dealing with the new enemy's drones, but it will also include beneficial skills that help you deal with other tech-related obstacles.

Payday 3 Syntax Error New Heist

The new heist will move the story forward as the Payday gang is yet to have uncovered the person behind their assassination plot. The new map is set in an AI-operated security data center which contains valuable information for the heisters to steal and make a load of money.

At first glance, the setting could entail the possibility of doing the heist both in Loud and Stealth. The dev update video also confirms that you can play the new heist with your friends who have the DLC without having to own it yourself.

Payday 3 Syntax Error New Weapons

As with all Payday DLCs, new weapons are a staple in the community's expectations, and the devs are delivering. They mentioned that the new guns will fill roles the current roster of weapons lacks so hopefully we might get some incredible new ways of getting those satisfying headshots. We will be getting a new shotgun, SMG, and marksman rifle in the new DLC.

And finally, we will be getting new cosmetics in the form of 4 new outfits, 4 new gloves, and 4 new masks from the DLC.

The DLC will also include an update with free masks and it seems that the new Infamy System will also have more cosmetic options for players who are looking to max out their Infamy Levels.

Final Thoughts

Despite the rocky launch, Payday 3 is looking to rectify its speedy release and to bring back the community that has been waiting years for a new and improved Payday game, following the success of Payday 2. It is also encouraging to hear the lead writer for the game share his experience and take on how Payday 3's story will progress further down the line.

This new DLC looks amazing both in terms of gameplay, but also in terms of new cosmetics, weapons, and even a new enemy type. More information will possibly be unveiled once the DLC launch comes closer, but at least they are keeping their promise of releasing the first paid DLC this year.
