PlayStation Plus Free Monthly Games - January 2025

The first month of 2025 brings a lot of goodies to PlayStation Plus members as this time around, Sony has recently shared the latest batch of games that will be available to players on January 7, 2025.

Having that in mind, we will take a look at all of the titles that you will get to pick and play as you choose. 

How PlayStation Plus Works

PlayStation Plus is a membership plan spread into three distinct tiers– Essential, Extra, and Premium. Starting with the cheapest and most accessible tier, Essential grants you monthly games, access to online multiplayer, exclusive discounts, content, cloud storage, and Share Play, whereas the next tiers add even more benefits on top of the ones listed. 

With that in mind, Sony releases new games that players are able to add to their library for free, and this time around, we will get to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League | PS5

Unfortunately, in the last two years, PlayStation Plus has been hit-or-miss, with more misses than one could imagine when it comes to the free games. Suicide Squad has been criticized even before its terrible launch, leading to disappointment and frustration in the gaming community as to how studios invest so many resources into practically unfun and unplayable titles. 

Nonetheless, it seems that there is still some live left, despite the negative reception and lack of players, if you want to give it a try, you can download it as soon as it becomes available.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered | PS4

Whether you played the game when it originally came out in 2010 or just heard about the recent remaster, it will surely scratch your itch for top-speed racing and drifting. The remaster brings gorgeous new graphics, significantly enhancing the in-game visuals, and despite the rather old game, it can still live up to the hype when it comes to the steering controls and shiny cars.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered also comes with all of the available DLC, so if you're up for a race, make sure to pick up the pace and the game. 

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe | PS4, PS5

This 2013 absolute gem of a single-player game will certainly have you giggling at the dry humor. Full of witty remarks, the hilarious atmosphere, coupled with the nonsensical first-person exploration gameplay will get you hooked almost immediately. 

To top it all off, the Ultra Deluxe version comes with even more content, secrets, choices, and other goodies for you to discover. It is the perfect game to relax and have a ton of fun as you listen to the magnificent voicework of Kevan Brighting.

And that covers all three of the games that will be available for the month of January. Although players are rightfully frustrated with live-service games still being on life support due to deals and memberships like PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass, hopefully, 2025 will bring some great hits from the past.
