Remote Raid Passes are highly coveted items in Pokemon GO that allow players to participate in raids remotely. With their limited availability and usefulness for catching rare Pokemon, trainers want to make the most of every Remote Raid Pass. This guide covers everything you need to know about getting and optimally using Remote Raid Passes.

What are Remote Raid Passes?

Remote Raid Passes provide more flexibility and accessibility for raids. Players can take on raids anywhere instead of needing to travel to specific gyms. This makes it easier to coordinate with friends online and battle powerful bosses.

The main drawback is that Remote Raid Passes cannot be obtained for free like regular raid passes. They must be purchased in the shop for PokeCoins. So players have to strategically manage their Remote Raid Pass reserves and make use of them for the most valuable raid encounters.

Remote Raid Passes can only be acquired with PokeCoins, either through in-app purchases or by defending gyms. Players will receive 50 PokeCoins daily for keeping Pokemon at gyms for 8.5 hours. A single remote raid pass costs 195 coins, while a bundle of three passes is 525 coins.

Periodically, the in-game shop offers a Remote Raid Pass box containing raid passes and other items for around 300 coins. This averages under 100 coins per pass, an excellent deal. Be vigilant for these special promotions.

How to Use Remote Raid Passes in Pokemon GO

Using Remote Raid Passes in Pokemon GO is pretty straightforward. This is a step-by-step guide to do it:

  1. Tap the nearby Pokemon bar in the bottom-right and select the Raid tab.
  2. Choose any raid with an "Ongoing" button.
  3. Tap the pink "Battle using a Remote Raid Pass" button instead of the usual green Battle button.
  4. Confirm the pass selection.

You'll then enter the raid lobby to await other players. You can also join an active raid by tapping a gym directly. Any friend invited to their raid will also appear in the Nearby raid tab for immediate access through your pass.

Use Remote Raid Passes wisely. Not all raids are worth joining remotely. Save them for valuable opportunities to quickly get rare and powerful Pokemon.
