Miss Delight was a very kind and smart doll, created to be a teacher at the Playcare for the orphans. There were about eight identical dolls assigned to this job. She was truly passionate about teaching the children and always encouraged them to ask questions. Sadly, everything changed after the Hour of Joy.

When the Hour of Joy occurred, Miss Delight and her sisters were locked inside the Playcare school by CatNap. They found themselves trapped, and in her fear, Miss Delight fashioned a weapon from school supplies, which she named "Barb". Initially, she only saw Barb as a means of protection.

However, as time passed and their supplies dwindled, hunger set in. Miss Delight's sisters began to ration the food, excluding her. Alone and desperate, Miss Delight started to hear Barb "speak" to her. She became convinced that her makeshift weapon was communicating with her, suggesting that she could feign death by remaining still.

As Miss Delight's sanity slipped further, she ultimately succumbed to madness. In a frenzied state, she ambushed and killed her sisters, consuming their bodies to satisfy her hunger and maintain her own survival.

Although her psychotic tendencies and actions are apparent, Miss Delight shows signs of her previous identity as well. In Chapter 3, before encountering her in person she actually alerts us to stay away if we want to be safe. This was of course quickly overshadowed by her change of heart as she decided to hunt us later on. However, we have to acknowledge that there is still a part of her, even if it is small, that doesn't want to do what she is forced to do to survive.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3: Miss Delight's Notes

In Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, as we were scavenging the school and finding notes, we came to understand Miss Delight's character better. The notes reveal her slow change from a sweet teacher to a crazy murderer. See what the notes say for yourself.

"Just a few weeks ago now was The Hour of Joy. Today, there is only silence in this school. I don't think any of us here know what to do with it. The hallways without the children carry even the smallest sounds as if they were shouts. The other teachers and I startle each other constantly. We’ll have to get used to it. Something locked the front door this morning. We haven’t been able to open it."

“I heard a knock at the door today. I heard it breathing. Whatever it was, it wouldn’t speak when called out to. I spent hours after it went silent wondering if this is what locked us up in here. I’ve made a weapon of sorts. Pencils and rulers and tape and twine. I’ve taken to calling it “Barb”. It’s crude. But if that door opens, I need to be ready.”

"The pit in me howls for FOOD. I CAN’T THINK about anything other than how HUNGRY I AM. HARDLY HAVE THE STRENGTH NOW TO PICK MYSELF OFF THE FLOOR. Bard speaks to me though. SHE GIVES ME STRENGTH. I’ve found that if I stand still, COMPLETELY STILL, everyone thinks I’m DEAD. BARB says I need to EAT, AND THAT THE OTHER TEACHERS would never see me coming. ANYTHING TO STOP THE HOWLING.”

“I’M SO SORRY. I HAD TO EAT. I HAD TO SURVIVE. I ATE THEM. I HAD TO I HAD TO I HAD TO I HAD TO”
