The Prison Architect game was released on Steam way back in 2015 and has since become one of the highest user-rated games on the platform of all time. It's no surprise then that Prison Architect 2's recent trailer has cooked up quite a stir! Here's everything you need to know about Prison Architect 2's release date, and where to play it.
Prison Architect 2 Release Date:
Prison Architect 2 will release on March 26, 2024, for the cost of $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 on Steam. Prices for other platforms have not yet officially been confirmed, though it's safe to imagine it will be about the same price for console.

Prison Architect 2 New Features:
Most prominent of all is Prison Architect 2's graphical switch to a completely 3D style! Not only does this allow for some incredible graphical improvements, as shown below, but swapping to 3D will also massively impact gameplay.

As for further new features, players can expect a tool crafting system of similar depth to the original game, as well as all the familiar dangers of the prison setting, including riots, shankings, and contraband checks.
Paradox themselves had this to say regarding new features in Prison Architect 2:
“The game offers deeper simulation, greater player control, an inhabitant behaviour system and creative options to define the next generation of management gameplay.”
It's worth noting that multiplayer mode in Prison Architect 2 has, as yet, not been officially confirmed as a feature on launch.

Is Prison Architect 2 Coming to Console?
While the original Prison Architect game was available for a mountain of systems and consoles, including Xbox One, Android, and Nintendo Switch, Prison Architect 2 will launch on far fewer consoles.
Prison Architect 2 will release on March 26 for the following platforms:
- Xbox Series X/S
- PlayStation 5
- PC (via Steam)
