Single-player is not new to Ready or Not, and is even the preferred way to play for those players who want to lean into the immersion of deployment as a SWAT team operative. The brand-new Commander mode, however, takes this immersion to the next level.
Ready or Not Commander Mode:
Commander mode is designed for replayability and meaningful single-player progression. You'll be tasked with looking after your team, developing traits on your squad members, and managing a stress system. Here's a breakdown of every new feature in Commander mode.
- The stress system: engaging in excessive violence, losing hostages, or otherwise endangering the innocent will incur stress penalties for your officers. Too much stress will literally force officers into therapy before they can be deployed again, so take care of your men!
- Ironman mode activates perma-death, meaning as soon as you die, your save file for that run of Commander mode will be erased. Complete Ironman mode to unlock some exclusive cosmetic rewards.
- Exfiltration: If you want to quit a mission early without incurring a stress penalty, you need to return to your spawn point to exfiltrate.
- Officer traits: These traits will develop on your officers as you play missions with them.
