The S-Rank version of Anby is finally out, and I couldn’t be more hyped for Soldier 0 Anby. If you’ve been following my thoughts on previous Zenless Zone Zero units, you’ll know that I tend to gravitate towards fast playstyles and agents that make the screen shot a ton of numbers, even if they aren’t as big as those of bursty units like Zhu Yuan. As such, Soldier 0 Anby is right up my alley when it comes to units. Couple this with the introduction of the [Aftershock] damage type, and I was sure that S Anby was certainly a unit that I wouldn’t want to miss. But is this the same for you?

Is Soldier 0 Anby Strong?
Soldier 0 Anby is definitely a strong unit. She has amazing damage output thanks to the [Aftershock] mechanic and is also not tied to an enemy’s stun window like some other units. This allows her to output constant damage without having to worry about building daze on the enemy. This works amazingly well with her on-field playstyle, as Soldier 0 Anby generally wants to have almost all of the field time to herself. As such, you’d mostly want to use her with units that have little to no field time, such as Astra Yao, Nicole, and so on. This also means that she generally doesn’t do that great with greedy Stun units such as Qingyi, as this will only eat away at SS Anby’s field time and thus reduce your overall damage potential.
As a whole, I find Soldier 0 Anby extremely fun to play. The fast playstyle and combos to try and quickly build up her [Silver Star] mechanic are right up my alley, and I never find myself having a dull moment. In addition, not having to constantly worry about stunning the enemy so that I can do damage is a breath of fresh air, and I’m all for it. I’m currently enjoying the new [Aftershock] mechanic and can’t wait to see how HoYo will implement it going forward.

Should You Pull for Soldier 0 Anby?

Now then, it’s time to answer the question you all came here for. Should you pull for SS Anby? When it comes to Soldier 0 Anby, I’m leaning more towards the PULL side rather than skip. I know that she is an attack unit and is bound to be powercrept sooner or later, but she is also the first unit that uses the [Aftershock] mechanic, and she is also a unit that enables a huge buff for any allied team member’s Aftershock procs. This will make Soldier 0 Anby a driver for many Aftershock teams, as she can greatly boost the team’s overall damage just by being on the field. I believe this makes her a unit worth having in your roster, should the Aftershock playstyle continue to develop in the future.
Having said that, if you do not want to play with the Aftershock playstyle and aren’t a fan of either SS Anby, Pulchra, or the upcoming S-Rank Agent Trigger, then you might consider skipping Soldier 0 Anby. There are bound to be other units in the future that will also make use of the Aftershock damage type, so you can hope and save for those, but if you want to be certain that you’ll have a viable Aftershock team in the future and like SS Anby’s playstyle, then you surely won’t regret pulling!
