Well, dear readers, Varesa is finally out, and setting aside all of the controversy surrounding her, she turned out to be not that bad of a unit. Do I think she’s great? Not really. I didn’t enjoy the direction miHoYo went with the character ever since her reveal, and while I do think it’s cool that they went out of their comfort zone and created an entirely unique model for one unit, I also believe that it’s blatantly obvious why they did it. It is clear that Varesa is a means to try and milk money out of a desperate audience, and that honestly doesn’t sit right with me, so for that reason alone, I’ll be skipping. But should you? Morals and whatnot aside, let’s discuss whether Varesa is a good investment.

Is Varesa Strong?

Varesa is a decent unit. She is not ridiculously overpowered, nor is she weak. She’s middle-class when it comes to DPS units and on the better end when it comes to Electro DPS units. Being a unit that revolves primarily around Plunge Attacks, she doesn’t have the best support framework to let her shine; however, Iansan is an amazing support for her and basically takes care of that issue. Especially if you manage to get some constellations on her.
While Varesa’s kit might seem complex on paper, she actually happens to be really simple to play. You’ll find yourself only pressing E, Charged Attack, and then spamming the attack button. It’s a playstyle that is easy to get used to, and the rotations are simple. And if you love raining down on your buttocks on enemies, I guess it might be the playstyle for you.

Should You Pull for Varesa?

Now then, let’s answer the question of whether you should pull for Varesa or not. Honestly, my opinion when it comes to DPS units is the same as always. If you do not enjoy the character and their playstyle, then just skip. DPS units are the worst investment out of any unit and historically become obsolete quite fast. As such, you should only consider investing in the unit if you do not have any other DPS units, like the character, be that their appearance, lore, or playstyle, and are okay with spending 140+ wishes.
While Varesa is decent, she is by no means the best; she’s nowhere near Neuvillette's level, nor is she as useful as some other supports. She is a general Electro DPS unit, and she does a good job at that. If you are fine with that, then by all means pull. If you’re going after meta, then you might want to save your pulls.
