Genshin Impact Version 5.1 is at last here, and alongside it, we also got introduced to a new playable character in the form of Xilonen. Xilonen is our newest 5-star Geo character, and she is one hell of a decent support.

Xilonen Introduction
Xilonen is the newest support/main DPS character to be added to the game and is also the first support character from Natlan. She is a joy to play around with and explore the world as her Elemental Skill makes climbing a breeze, and let’s be honest, we all probably would've loved to have her back in the days when we were climbing Liyue’s mountains. God, those were the times. Her climbing ability aside, Xilonen is a great character that can work both as a dedicated support, who’s on par with Kazuha, or event as a dedicated main DPS.

Great Support
Her support utility comes from the fact that she’s able to shred the elemental resistances of enemies, boosting elemental damage for certain elements by up to 36% at skill level 10. And that is not all. Her Elemental Burst provides really decent healing, but it has the drawback of only being able to heal the onfield character. So if you’re not willing to break the bank and get Xilonen’s C6, which allows the ult to heal the whole team, then you’ll have to make do with its standard healing, which is still great and is based on Xilonen’s DEF.
DEF% Scaling
Which brings me to the second point. Xilonen is a DEF%-based character, meaning that all of those pesky DEF pieces that always seem to fill up your storage will finally come to use. And if you’ve been farming the new artifact domain, then even better, as her support builds utilize the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City set perfectly!
Decent DPS
Now, doing a 180 to her DPS ability. When it comes to sheer damage output, Xilonen is honestly not that great. If invested heavily into, she can certainly one-cycle a lot of the bosses, but playing her as a DPS drastically lowers her team flexibility. As a support, Xilonen can fit into almost any team, whereas when played as a DPS, she must be placed into a team filled with mostly Geo characters. If you have a built Gorou and Kachina, then that’s great, but otherwise, her Elemental Skill will make it impossible for her to be played as a DPS.
That being said, as a DPS character and an overworld character at that, she performs great. Her ability to quickly climb walls can be very handy when coupled with, let’s say, Yelan, who’ll help you cover long stretches of land. Additionally, her playstyle as a DPS is pretty simple, only relying on her Elemental Skill for Geo infusion and using the Elemental Burst for big damage whenever you have enough energy. All in all, regardless of which route you choose to go with, Xilonen will provide a ton of fun!

Should You Pull for Xilonen?
The eternal question. Should you pull for this champion or not? Well, in Xilonen's case, the scales lean mostly toward YES. When pulling Xilonen, you’re basically getting two characters for the price of one. Not only is she a great support that can fit into almost any team imaginable, excluding Dendro and Physical teams, but she can also be played as a decent main DPS while also opening the doors to some amazing open-world exploration thanks to her climbing ability, which makes Xilonen the fastest climber in the game as of Version 5.2.
She is a great character to have on your account, and if you’re not planning on pulling for either Chasca or Ororon and if you’re still debating whether to save for Mavuika, then Xilonen is a great character to spend your Primos on!
