Silent Hill 2 Remake: All Endings

Silent Hill 2 Remake follows up in the footsteps of a beloved game by many. The Remake comes with the original game endings but a few new ones will be added to spice things up with the New Game Plus mode. The sats indicate that there are 8 endings in total, so 2 new ones will be added. In this article, we will discuss all the endings in Silent Hill 2 Remake and how to get them.

Leave Ending

In this Silent Hill 2 Remake ending, James must come to terms with his actions and leave Silent Hill, surviving but distancing himself from Maria. He overcomes his guilt for Mary’s death and leaves the town alongside Laura. In order to get this ending, you should focus on survival and healing. Many players consider this the 'good' ending in Silent Hill 2.

Maria Ending

For this ending, players need to build a connection with Maria instead of focusing on the past with Mary. Yes, this means you should avoid looking at Mary's picture and avoid accepting responsibility for Mary’s death. To get this Silent Hill 2 Remake ending, you have to spend more time with Maria and protect her from harm. Some consider this the neutral ending among the original games' 3 finals. 

In Water Ending

The “In Water” ending is considered to be 'the bad' ending in Silent Hill 2. You can reach it by playing recklessly and allowing James to fall deeper into despair. This ending suggests that James can’t live with the guilt of Mary’s death. The guilt will ultimately lead him to drive into the lake to take his own life. Minimal healing and self-care during gameplay will trigger this ending.

Rebirth Ending

We're getting into the territory of the new endings in Silent Hill 2 Remake. The Rebirth Ending is available only in New Game Plus. You'll have to collect four key items and attempt to resurrect Mary through a mysterious ritual. It seems like James is trying to make everything better through the Old Gods. The results aren't clear. The requirements for this Silent Hill 2 Remake ending may mirror the original—collecting four specific items scattered throughout the game.

Dog Ending

You might have heard of this ending because it's a popular joke in Silent Hill. To reach it, you'll have to complete three primary endings or the Rebirth ending before finding the Dog Key in New Game Plus. In this funny ending, James discovers that a dog has been controlling the entire town of Silent Hill. This is a fan-favorite ending for its lighthearted twist on an otherwise intense game.

UFO Ending

This is another joke ending in Silent Hill. The UFO Ending first appeared in the Greatest Hits and HD Collection editions of the original Silent Hill 2. In this ending, after using the Blue Gem in certain locations, James is abducted by aliens. He meets Harry, the main character from the first Silent Hill game. In the remake, the UFO Ending will also likely require New Game Plus and involve finding the Blue Gem and using it in specific locations, as it did in the original game. It's a funny and quirky finish to the story. 

Serenity Ending [New]

This new final scene portrays James in his car. We hear Mary's voice and her hand caressing his cheek from the backseat. She tells him everything is okay, with her letter placed on the seat next to him. James ends up crying, finally giving in to the emotions. Some think that this is just a more intense 'Water ending'.

Bliss Ending [New]

This ending shows the tape James made with Mary. On it, they hug and they genuinely seem happy with being together. The camera pans out and the hotel room is empty, James is gone and the TV has been shut off. Some fans think this ending suggests James never killed Mary and they were a lovable couple. 

New Additions in the Silent Hill 2 Remake

In addition to the classic endings, the Silent Hill 2 Remake introduces two new endings. They all seem very sweet and gentle. We will update this article once the game is released if there is more information that needs to be added.
