Silent Hill 2 has a total of seven mobs you can encounter in various parts of the map. They come with their own unique attack patterns and behaviors, so it pays off to know how to counter them and take them down—it can potentially save your life!

Lying Figure

Also known as Patient Demons or Straitjackets. Can dart and injure James when crawling; spits a yellow liquid that stuns and injures James when standing. Not much of a threat.

Locations: East South Vale, Wood Side Apartments, Blue Creek Apartments, West South Vale, Silent Hill Historical Society, Toluca Prison, Labyrinth, Lake View Hotel (backtracking only), Nightmare Hotel.

Creeper

Makes a buzzing sound like a cricket. James can walk past a Creeper and not engage, as they aren't aggressive and won't follow you. If needed, they are easy to take out, as they only attack by trying to bite James' foot.

Mannequin

Frozen in place and will only attack when James passes by them and is in close range, whacking him with one of their upper legs. Easy to take out in any state as they are usually slow to attack.

Locations: Wood Side Apartments, Blue Creek Apartments, West South Vale, Brookhaven Hospital, Nightmare Hospital, Dark South Vale, Lake View Hotel.

Recommended Weapons: Handgun, Steel Pipe, Wooden Plank

Bubble Head Nurse

Carries a metal pipe so make sure not to get too close, as they attack quickly. Ranged weapons will take them down with 1-3 shots, and a kick to the ground will finish them. If you don't have a gun, the Steel Pipe's swing attack can do well.

Locations: Brookhaven Hospital, Nightmare Hospital, Dark South Vale.

Also known as Underhanger. Only found under grating or mesh floors, which makes them a rare mob. James can run past them without engaging, and stopping leaves him vulnerable to attacks.

Abstract Daddy

Bulky and slow, only encountered in the boss fight and two other rooms in the game. Attack quickly before they get the chance to grab James and strangle him, inflicting heavy damage.

Locations: Lake View Hotel (Boss: Labyrinth)

Red Pyramid Thing

Also known as Pyramid Head. Invulnerable to all your attacks, can insta-kill James with an overhead executioner's swing using his Great Knife. If encountered outside of a boss scenario or the Hospital, it's just best to turn the other way and run as fast as you can.
