Since its launch in 2014 by Hi-Rez Studios, Smite has stood out in the MOBA genre. Players take on the roles of gods and goddesses in a third-person battle arena, engaging in classic MOBA battles against other players, monsters, and structures. Smite is accessible across various platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Amazon Luna, and is free-to-play. The upcoming sequel, SMITE 2's Alpha, is right around the corner. It aims to completely revamp and modernize the original game. Built on Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 will feature fully implemented cross-play, cross-progression, and performance upgrades. The developers released a video on their official YouTube and X page, offering insights into the upcoming features and changes. Dive into the details below!
Scaling Changes: In Smite 2, they've shaken things up by ditching the Physical vs Magical scaling system for gods and items. Every God ability will now scale with either strength (STR) or intelligence (INT), which items will grant instead of Physical or Magical Power. Gods may possess abilities that scale with STR, INT, or both, including double-scaling abilities. That means in Smite 2, crazy combos that seemed impossible in Smite 1 are totally doable. The video even mentioned that a Crit build Ymir is possible!

Buff Camps Changes
In Smite 2, buff camps have made a comeback with some minor but exciting adjustments. The buffs have been tweaked just enough to keep things interesting without confusing returning players. Now, the buffs that jungle camps drop scale with the level of the monsters slain, as the monsters level up each time they are slain. The same color buffs will still go to the same roles – Blue for solo laners, Purple for ADC, etc. Here are the changes:
- Blight I (Red I) – Attacks and abilities deal 5% Max HP damage over 3 seconds.
- Blight II (Red II) – You now gain +10 HP per tick of damage.
- Blight III (Red III) – Same as red, but the damage over time is increased to 10% Max HP
- Inspiration I (Purple I) – You and nearby allies gain 15 extra STR and INT
- Inspiration II (Purple II) – Extra stats are increased to +30!
- Inspiration III (Purple III) – Extra stats are increased to +45!
- Pathfinder I (Yellow I) –Grants stacking (up to 3) 4% movement speed buff every 3 seconds.
- Pathfinder II (Yellow II) – You get the buff every 1 second instead.
- Pathfinder III (Yellow III) – The maximum stacks are increased to 4.
- Primal I (Blue I) – Gain a stacking (up to 3) +15 Protection after hitting an enemy player with an ability.
- Primal II (Blue II) – Also grants +10 Cooldown Rate
- Primal III (Blue III) – The Protection is increased to +30 and the Cooldown Rate to +20.

Gold Fury and Ancient Fury
After the Gold Fury has been slain three times, the Ancient Fury will spawn. Killing the Ancient Fury will grant a huge buff to your team’s sieging by disabling enemy structures for a short period of time, which will be great for pushing down Phoenixes late game.

Relics and Active Items
In Smite 2, relics have been revamped. Players now start each match with purification beads and a vision ward automatically. Relic choices from Smite 1 are now offered as active items in the store. This change enables players to buy any number of active items without limitations. Consequently, players can equip up to six items with active effects, along with purification beads and a vision ward.

The 'Interact Key'
A notable addition in Smite 2 is the introduction of the 'interact key'. This feature allows players to engage with various elements and objectives on the map. For example, players can use this key to capture the war horn, utilize teleporters, open doors to their team's base, and pick up the new jungle buffs.
