In order to begin the Shattered Space expansion, you are going to need to receive a distress signal from a space station called The Oracle. The easiest way to do this is to grav jump to a system in which you have no active quests, making it much more likely for you to receive the distress signal. Once you hear it, you are going to receive the quest "What Remains," which will task you to board the space station. Find The Oracle, board it, and you should be all set for the beginning of the new quest chain, which will take you through all of the new content in the Shattered Space expansion. Here is an easy step-by-step guide that will go over everything you need to do in order to begin Shattered Space:

1. Complete the first main mission, "One Small Step," and be around level 35.
2. Travel to a star system that doesn't have any active quests.
3. Wait for the distress signal from The Oracle.
4. Receive the "What Remains" mission and dock to The Oracle.
