In the world of Starfield, joining the UC Vanguard can lead to some intense moments. During a seemingly routine mission, you'll encounter a Terrormorph, a formidable adversary. Yet, what proves to be even more daunting is the complex web of family ties. After a few hours of gameplay, you'll face a dilemma: should you break the golden rule and involve yourself in someone else's family matters by disclosing the truth to Hadrian about her father?

The War Relics Mission:

The War Relics mission delves into the mystery of Terrormorphs, their sudden appearance on planets, and the darker aspects of humanity's expansion into the cosmos. Early in this mission chain, you'll encounter Hadrian, an NPC stationed at an outpost under Terrormorph attack. Your encounter with her sets you on a path to uncover one of the UC Vanguard's most closely guarded secrets: the existence of Vae Victis, a man believed to be long dead.

Vae Victis, Hadrian's genetic father, had been sentenced to death for his role in the Colony Wars. However, he is still alive, toiling away beneath New Atlantis, where the UC Vanguard's clandestine elements keep him occupied. Hadrian is his clone, and you'll have the option to reveal this truth to her.

What Happens if You Tell Hadrian About Her Father?

Starfield offers you multiple opportunities to disclose the truth to Hadrian, as the game enjoys tempting you. Hadrian often hints in her dialogue that she's struggled to escape her origins' shadow, and she reacts reasonably well to the revelation about her father's survival. While she'll express anger, she won't hold it against you.

This revelation significantly impacts two key aspects of the quest:

  1. Vae Victis' Secret: The truth about Vae Victis comes to light. Vae emerges as an even more significant villain than previously believed, turning this into a profound moral choice for your character. You'll have the option to lie to the UC Council to protect Vae. If you reveal the truth about him, it will cost you a final mission for the UC Vanguard. If Hadrian learns about her father's survival, she will automatically inform the Council, leading to Vae's execution. Choose this option if you're willing to forgo an additional mission.

What Happens if You Keep Hadrian in the Dark About Her Father?

If you decide not to inform Hadrian about her father, Vae Victis will escape punishment for his crimes, and you'll gain access to a new mission after completing the main mission chain. In essence, what Hadrian doesn't know won't harm her. If your goal is to experience as much content as possible, this is the preferred option.
