Akuma's Redesign in Street Fighter 6

In this Incarnation, Akuma has been given an older look represented by his white hair. Capcom has opted for a more striking presence using animals and Buddhist statues as a reference for his musculature. Of course, if players prefer his older design, the character's Outfit 2 style features a look inspired by his Street Fighter 2 Turbo design.

Akuma's Move List in Street Fighter 6

From the gameplay reveal we can see that Akuma has kept many of his staples like his Gou Hadoken, Zanku Hadoken, Gou Shoryuken, and more. Capcom provided some insight into how some of his moves work:

Gou Hadoken

  • This move is Akuma's fireball. It can be charged up to send out a "red fireball", providing more options when it hits or gets blocked.

Ashura Senku

  • This is Akuma's signature glide move. When he uses Ashura Senku, Akuma cloaks himself in shadows and rushes forward. Akuma can now use Oboro Throw during the approach to surprise opponents.

Zanku Hadoken

  • This move allows Akuma to send a fireball while in the air, which provides cover for his aggressive approach.

Adamant Flame *NEW*

  • Akuma thrusts forward engulfed in flames. This move has a long range which can be very useful in Combos. The Overdrive version of the move will also be able to wall splat.

Demon Raid

*NEW*

  • When Akuma uses this move, he leaps into the air, after which he has the option of different follow-ups depending on the button pressed. For example: an overhead, a low kick, or a dive kick.

Super Arts

  • Akuma's Level 1 Super Art is called Messatsu Gohado. He sends out a compressed fireball forward. This move can also be unleashed in the air.
  • Akuma's Level 2 Super Art is called Empyrean’s End. With this move, he turns Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame and strikes his opponent. This move can also wall splat.
  • Akuma's first Level 3 Super Art is Sip of Calamity. With this move, he throws opponents face-first on the ground and follows up with a devastating blow.
  • Akuma's second Level 3 Super Art is Shun Goku Satsu or the infamous "Raging Demon". This move can only be used when his HP is low enough for a Critical Art. In this version, we can finally see what happens during the 1 second worth of Nightmares.

Summary

It's been almost a year since the game was released and we finally have all of the Year 1 DLC Characters. Akuma looks like he will be a great addition to Street Fighter 6 and a strong pick once he comes out. With the anniversary of the game approaching, it won't be surprising if we receive news about a Year 2 pass with new characters.
