The Diplomat Season 2 Episode 2 Kate & Dennison
Roylin needs protection, and Eidra and Kate are willing to give her what she's looking for. However, not without a price. In exchange for their help, they ask what she knows and who she's afraid of. However, during his speech, Nicol Trowbridge spots Roylin in the crowd, and the CIA is quick to escort her out of the cathedral. After the funeral ends, Hal asks Kate if she and Austin were about to have an affair. She admits that this is true, but Hal's incident prevented it from happening.
Hal goes to the restroom, and Dennison tells Kate that Margaret was at the funeral. Kate was already aware of her presence, and she apologizes for the night in Paris. The protagonist tries to convince Dennison to stop the Lenkov assassination because she wants him to remain alive for questioning; she is almost certain that it was Trowbridge who hired him in the first place.
The Diplomat Season 2 Episode 2 Stuart
Stuart Heyford is ready to go back to work at the U.S. Embassy, and even though everyone is quite shocked to see him there, he tries to explain that he can't just stay at home because the thought of Ronnie tortures him. Kate starts to ask him questions about his relationship with Eidra, but Stuart is quick to tell her that their relationship fell apart after she dumped him, and they no longer speak to each other.
Yes, there's plenty of unfinished business when it comes to these two, but considering the situation, it's good to take things one step at a time. Stuart and Hal end up meeting at the office for the first time, which is probably not so bad with all the emotions after the bombing. Stuart seems upset when he sees him, but Hal doesn't feel the need to apologize for anything.

The Diplomat Season 2 Episode 2 Margaret
After she changes her clothes, Royling is taken to a safe room in the basement of the embassy and refuses to talk until she sees Dennison. Kate doesn't want to get Dennison involved at all because of their strained relationship, but she tries to get him to go speak with Margaret. He shows up, but he still has a problem with Roylin. She warns him to protect himself so he doesn't get killed by the same people who wiped out Grove. Moreover, she admits that she knows who the killers are, but she can't share the information because she might get hurt.
Dennison still doesn't seem like he wants to be there, but then she admits that some British citizens, along with Merritt Grove, hired Roman Lenkov to deal with the ship. Roylin finishes her speech by telling Kate that the people who killed Grove had tapped her phone, so when she called her, they listened to the conversation. Of course, Dennison is ready to turn Roylin over to the police, but Kate doesn't allow it; she wants to interrogate Margaret a bit longer.
The Diplomat Season 2 Episode 2 Nicol Surprises Dennison
Trowbridge wastes no time and appears in the U.S. Embassy to "honor Ronnie" without any warning. However, he interrupts the conversation between Dennison and Kate. He asks to speak to Kate alone to ask why she called Roylin from Paris. Kate tries to lie and says that she just wanted to talk about how to handle Trowbridge. Additionally, she reveals that they spoke about Lenkov and the French as well. This is enough to make Nicol leave.
Once he's gone, Kate tells Stuart what's happening, and she claims that Ronnie could have been killed by Nicol, although she can't say for sure. However, she knows that some members of the British government are involved in the bombing, including Merritt Grove, who got murdered. She also ends up telling him where Margaret is. By the end of the scene, Stuart is aware that all of this happened because Kate called Roylin, and when they leave for the airport to honor Ronnie, Stuart warns her about Margaret.

The Diplomat Season 2 Episode 2 Who Has To Take The Blame
Eventually, Hal tries to make Kate feel better by saying that this is the cost of doing business. This makes her angry, and they get into a huge fight. At least she apologizes for mistreating him in the past and tells him that he wasn't the real problem. This part is followed by another big fight caused by Hal's lack of appreciation for the apology.
In the end, Hal asks Kate to help him take off his shoes before going to bed, which isn't such a surprise for a long-term couple who occasionally argues.
