The First Descendant Hotfix 1.0.2 dropped on July 11, 2024, and we are ready to explore all the changes that the developers have made to one of our favorite looter shooter games. Although the last update brought many necessary changes, such as some PS5 performance fixes and the audio of the logo, Hotfix 1.0.2 addresses some more serious issues.
Recently, fans have been complaining about minor problems surrounding the game, but the developers did not disappoint and gave us a lot of improvements when it comes to optimization, modules, and matchmaking. Let's take a look at the changes that we can expect to see when we open the game after Hotfix 1.0.2.

The First Descendant Character Updates
Although the developers focused mostly on other aspects of The First Descendant, we still get to see some improvements when it comes to the characters. Nexon Games fixed a big issue where Descendants could not get out of DBNO when their HP was below -100% from module settings, and they offered the following improvements to Kyle and Esiemo:
Kyle
Superconductivity Thrusters
- Fixed an issue where Kyle would occasionally go up into the air when using Superconductivity Thrusters during Repulsion Dash.
Esiemo
Arche Explosion
- Fixed an issue where Esiemo could not get back up while using Arche Explosion and being inflicted with Knockback.
Although there weren't specific complaints about Kyle and Esiemo, fans are happy that the developers are constantly taking action, not only by following player suggestions but also by generally striving to improve the overall gameplay experience.

The First Descendant Content Improvements
One of the most anticipated additions in The First Descendant finally dropped: the matchmaking option on Hard Mode. You can choose Start Public Operation even if you change the selected reward. However, keep in mind that if you choose an additional option, only Start Private Operation will be available.
Moreover, the quantity of rare basic materials dropped from Encrypted Vaults increased, and it is now three times greater than usual. The Elite Vulgus that appear in Field Missions and Infiltration Operations will drop a lot of them as well. The developers also reduced the time from two 90-second to two 60-second occupations for the Kingston Vulgus Data Transmitter Hacking Mission.
There was a problem with the Battle Pass Supply Shop button, but it is now fully visible with a brand-new design. The Library window was also improved in terms of visibility, and the duration of party invitation messages was boosted to make confirmation easier.
The first NPC you encounter in The First Descendant is moved closer to the start of the game, and the duration of the Descendant Instructor's lines is now better. Additionally, Nexon Games removed the sequential type Immunity Spheres from Named Monsters, and they are changed either by default or extermination types.

The First Descendant Optimization Improvements
There are numerous optimization improvements in Hotfix 1.0.2, mostly for PC. The stability of the shader preparation process has now become better by reducing the CPU load during shader generation, and GPU memory usage is lower when set to High or higher quality. Moreover, there was an issue where character skins were displayed in low graphics settings intermittently during extended gameplay, and this is now fixed.
There was a small bug that allowed frame limits to be set when using Nvidia and AMD's Frame Generation, but we no longer need to worry about it. A lot of players noticed that shadows were also intermittently displayed abnormally depending on the view, but thankfully, this is not the case anymore.

The First Descendant Dungeons, Field & Equipment
The developers of The First Descendant fixed a bug that was displaying unused items in the Library and an issue where weapon damage was capped at 100,000. Another cool adjustment was made in terms of the Weapon Change Speed stat; we can now be certain that higher values are correctly displayed. Monster spawning is no longer interrupted, and Vespers resource box materials are not dropped from the following:
- Echo Swamp
- Agna Desert
- White-Night Gulch
- Hagios
- Fortress Infiltration Operation
The Amorphous Material Pattern: 118 and Shape Stabilizer Form are dropped at Frozen Valley: Vulgus Strategic Outpost in Fortress on Hard Mode, and you can now expect Elite Vulgus in the White-Night Gulch Upper Hatchery Battlefield missions to drop various rewards. Ultimate Gold options have been corrected as well, and Reactors prioritize lower Skill Cooldown and Skill Cost stats as intended.

The First Descendant Modules, Research & Miscellaneous Changes
One of the most common issues where the increase in Firearm ATK per stack in the Sharp Precision Shot Module was summed instead of multiplied is now gone, and the core materials of Ultimate Descendants are correctly displayed as Rare instead of Ultimate Tier. Some additional improvements don't fall into a specific category, and they concern the French-speaking part of the community.
The Go To Title Screen menu was displayed with the same phrase as Exit Game, and Ultimate Camera was used for Dreadful Abomination. Additionally, there were a few missing words in the probability display for Executioner Tier 3 Set 4. Fortunately, these issues were discovered and fixed.
