Warner Bros.' free-to-play platform fighter MultiVersus is making a comeback. The game, which went offline in June 2023, now has a new release date of May 28, 2024. Developer Player First Games has been hard at work rebuilding the game from the ground up to improve the overall experience for players.

One of the biggest changes is the move to Unreal Engine 5. This will give MultiVersus a visual upgrade, making characters and stages look better than ever. The game's netcode has also been completely reworked. This means players can expect smoother online play with more accurate hit detection.

Players can also look forward to new characters joining the roster. MultiVersus already has a diverse cast of characters from various Warner Bros. properties. These include Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman from DC Comics, Shaggy and Velma from Scooby-Doo, and Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes. While no specific new characters were announced, the developer promises some exciting additions.

Another new feature is a brand new PvE mode. This will give players a new way to enjoy the game outside of the competitive PvP matches. The mode will also have its own unique rewards for players to earn.

Warner Bros.' MultiVersus Platforms and More

MultiVersus will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The game will have full cross-play and cross-progression support. This means players can play with friends on any platform and carry their progress over.

Before going offline, MultiVersus had a successful open beta launch in July 2022.  However, some players were frustrated with the lack of updates and new content in the months that followed.

With this re-release, Player First Games aims to address those concerns and deliver a better experience for players. The developer promises to share more details about the game in the coming weeks leading up to the May 28 launch.
