Valorant's new season, called Episode 8, is finally here, and Riot has started the new year off with a bang. Many changes have been made for this season, including balance adjustments to some agents, new additions to the map pool, and a brand new weapon. All of these together are going to slowly shape the future meta of the game, and in this article, we are going to explore just that.
We have compiled a list of the best and worst Sentinels for Valorant's patch 8.0, which is based on how strong they are going to be in mid-to-high ranked play. Keep in mind that the metagame in Valorant is always changing, and new strategies and interactions can always be found, so with that in mind, here is our ranking of the Sentinel roster for Episode 8.

Valorant Patch 8.0 C Tier Sentinels
Sadly, even after the recent Deadlock buffs, we still believe she is going to be the worst Sentinel available in the roster. Deadlock received a ton of quality-of-life changes to her Sonic Sensor, and while that is great and all, it does not fix the fundamental issues with her entire kit. She is just too awkward to play and get any real value, and once you start comparing her to how oppressive agents such as Cypher and Killjoy can be, you can really start seeing why she is at the bottom of the list.
Hopefully, Riot takes a full look at her kit and not only makes her numerically stronger but also more fun and engaging to play. She is going to need some more love before we start putting her in the same tier as the rest of the cast.

Valorant Patch 8.0 B Tier Sentinels
The story of Chamber is very similar to the one about Icarus. When he was first released, he definitely flew too close to the sun, and since then, he is nothing more than a niche pick. As a member of the Sentinel roster, he might just be the worst at actually being able to hold his ground and protect/slow down his enemies from entering his chosen area. The new Outlaw Sniper might also compete with his firepower in the earlier rounds of the game.
This agent is all about gunplay, and while you can definitely reach the highest ranks in the game by just being able to click heads, we see no reason for you to do it on Chamber instead of some of the Duelist options in the game.
Sage has always been in this weird spot where she isn't exactly the best agent in her respective role, but players are always happy when she is on their team. Sage just provides your team with so much unique utility with how strong her heals and Ultimate are. She is amazing at slowing down the game and allowing you to create better opportunities in both attacking and defending rounds. The inclusion of the new Outlaw Sniper, which requires 2 hits to get a kill, is also going to create a lot of opportunities for her to shine.
In general, Sage isn't as oppressive as the other Sentinels in the roster, but if you have a good understanding of the game, you can get a ton of value out of her. For this reason, we are going to be placing her right in the middle.

Valorant Patch 8.0 A Tier Sentinels
Killjoy got hit with quite the substantial nerf in the latest Patch 8.0, targeting the vision radius of her Turret, which is going to require a lot more thought before being placed. We still believe she is the second best Sentinel on the roster, especially in ranked, as her kit is heavily geared towards a more loose defensive playstyle. The new changes to the map pool are not going affect her in any substantial way, but the new Outlaw Sniper could be a little annoying as a cheap way to outrange your Turret.
She is still going to be extremely dominant, even after her recent nerfs, and if this list was purely made for the lower ranks, she would definitely be part of the S-tier. Killjoy is also one of the better Sentinels during the Attacker phase of the game, with her Ultimate securing the spike plant every few rounds.

While Cypher is indeed our top Sentinel pick for Patch 8.0, he is definitely in an interesting spot. Killjoy's recent nerfs are one of the reasons for his high placing, but the removal of Haven is surely going to impact his pickrate going forward. Icebox is was typically not a very good map for Cypher, but the recent changes will allow for some more interesting Tripwire locations, at least at the start of the season.
Nonetheless, Cypher is definitely the strongest Sentinel at the moment in our opinion. Many of the other characters in the Sentinel roster got nerfed pretty hard over the past year and it seems like a lot of the new maps, as well as changes to older maps are going to favor his playstyle.
That covers our picks for the best and worst Sentinels you can play in Patch 8.0. Keep in mind that these lists are just our speculation on how we think the meta is going to progress throughout the patch, and the best way to play Valorant is by playing whatever you enjoy the most. Hopefully, this list has helped you choose your main for Episode 8, and if you are looking for more Valorant resources, make sure to check out the rest of our website!
