Your spaceship in Starfield isn't just a vessel; it's your home among the stars. The freedom to customize it to your liking is one of the game's most exciting features. From the exterior design to the interior layout, there are endless possibilities to make your spacecraft truly your own. In this guide, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process of customizing your spaceship in Starfield, ensuring that it reflects your unique style and preferences as you embark on your cosmic adventures.
Where can you customize your ship?
Within the first 1-2 hours of the main story, you will find yourself in one of the main hubs in Starfield - New Atlantis. In this city you will everything you need on your journey to explore the universe - vendors, quests and most importantly, the Ship Services Technician!
Right after you land and exit the ship, the first NPC you will meet is the Ship Services Technician. You can interact with him and he will give you a couple of dialogue options. Among ship repairs and general directions, you will see the option 'I'd like to view and modify my ships'. Click on this option and you will be sent to the ship customization menu.
How can you customize your ship?
There are many options available in customizing your spaceship. You can change different parts like the engine, the shield generator and most importantly - your weapons. Stats aside you can also freely move parts of the ship and attach them at your will, as long as it makes sense of course.
Keep in mind most of the options available to you at the start of the game are going to be very expensive for the amount of credits you have accumulated. You can refer to our credits farming guide if you want to have a head starts on buying some expensive parts for your ship!
You can also press the 'H' button while in New Atlantis and it will open up the same menu. Have fun collecting and tinkering with ship parts, we can't wait to see what kind of ships the community will be able to create in the game.
