In Starfield, the Kid Stuff Trait, also known as the "Perk," allows you to reconnect with your parents and visit them at Pioneer Tower. This unique trait, while heartwarming, comes with a caveat – you'll automatically send 2% of your credits to your parents every week. This guide will walk you through how to visit your parents using the Kid Stuff Trait and provide some insights into their interactions and special rewards.
How to Visit Your Parents with the Kid Stuff Trait
To receive an invitation to your parents' home, follow these steps:
-
During character creation in Starfield, opt for the Kid Stuff Trait.
-
Progress through the first two main missions: "One Small Step" and "The Old Neighborhood."
-
After completing "The Old Neighborhood" mission, you'll encounter Noel in New Atlantis. She'll hand you the "Note From Dad," marking the start of your journey to visit your parents.
-
The note exchange takes place near the floating artifacts after retrieving one artifact from Neptune at the end of the mission. You can find the note in your inventory under "Notes." In the Inventory > Missions menu, select the green triangle for "Activities" and expand it to track the quest leading you to your parents' visit.
-
Now, you're ready to visit your parents at Pioneer Tower.
Locating Your Parents at Pioneer Tower
Your parents reside in Pioneer Tower, situated in the Residential District of New Atlantis, conveniently close to The Lodge, just to the south. This towering structure features a lobby and an elevator that will take you to your parents' apartment.
During your first visit, engage in a heartwarming conversation with your parents. Learn more about your new Constellation gig, listen to their supportive words, and observe their light-hearted bickering. You even have the option to rest in your childhood bed to recover health.
Paying Your Parents
Remember that the money for your parents is deducted weekly from your in-game funds. This automatic deduction is time-based. If you ever wish to discontinue this arrangement, you can choose to remove the Kid Stuff Trait.
Unique Rewards for Visiting Your Parents
Your visits to your parents' home also come with unique rewards:
1. Unique Weapon: Sir Livingstone’s Pistol After meeting your parents and making at least one payment or completing a mission, both parents will visit you at The Lodge. Your Dad will present you with Sir Livingstone’s Pistol, a firearm boasting 31 damage, a generous magazine size, and high velocity.
2. Unique Gear: Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit and Helmet Completing approximately five main missions triggers the appearance of Noel, who hands you "Mom’s Note" in The Lodge. Read the note from your inventory, then pay a visit to your parents. Although there won't be a waypoint, follow the path along the buildings to Pioneer Tower after leaving The Lodge. Engage in conversation with Mom, who will eventually present you with Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit and Helmet.
3. Unique Ship: Wanderwell Upon completing around six main missions, Noel approaches you urgently in The Lodge, bearing a note from your Dad. Read "Dad's Note" and head to Pioneer Tower to visit your parents. You'll discover that your Dad has hit the jackpot in a poker game and wants you to have the grand prize – a ship! Access the ship by speaking to any Ship Services Technician at a Spaceport and selecting the "Wanderwell." While you can sell it, it's advisable to keep it since it outshines the Frontier!
Encounters with Your Parents
Your parents will surprise you with their presence in various locations:
- They may show up at the Astral Lounge on Neon, which can be somewhat awkward but entertaining.
- You'll find them enjoying their retirement adventure at the petting zoo on Akila.
