Recently, the creator of the Roblox game IT Girl called out the creator of the current hit in casual gaming Dress to Impress (DTI), Gigi. You might be wondering what’s going on and why some players are calling for a boycott. Here’s everything you need to know about the situation.

This article is purely informative. GameLeap and the author do not condone the bullying of an underage person. Instead, we suggest keeping the dialogue civil and bearing in mind that the people involved are just teenagers.

IT Girl vs DTI
To start, IT Girl is a Roblox game that is similar to Dress to Impress, being a Bratz-inspired fashion challenge. However, it’s important to remember both titles are just game modes under the Roblox umbrella. The creator of IT Girl, Erica, took to Twitter to expose Gigi, the person behind DTI.
According to Erica, Gigi was supposedly going to accuse her of rape if IT Girl became more successful than her own Roblox game. The source for this information was two accounts from people who were on the DTI team. In her official statement, Gigi admitted that she made such comments, claiming they were provoked by shady remarks about her game. According to the DTI team, in the past few months, Gigi allegedly grew very bitter as IT Girl gained popularity, supposedly wanting to file a DMCA claim against it for being a copy of her product. As others have mentioned, this is not possible since the game is not an actual copy, just similar.

Fatphobia
Allegedly, Gigi shared an image of an overweight woman in her Discord server, claiming it was Erica, and then proceeded to post fatphobic messages. On this topic, Erica shared the following:
"I don’t have any pictures of me online, so I instantly knew that they were bullying some random girl, but that still doesn’t change the fact that they were trying to bully me for how I look. The ex-developers don’t have screenshots of her behavior because she would delete the messages, and they were also removed from the group chat where these conversations took place."
Gigi has denied being fatphobic, but people from her team posted screenshots of other instances where she shamed larger body sizes and refused to make DTI more inclusive.
"A lot of the fatphobia screenshots were me just joking around, which still doesn’t make it right. I thought they were my friends, and I felt comfortable with them, which is why I didn’t think twice at the time. But that doesn’t excuse it. I’m never gonna joke like that again because I know how much harm it can cause, even if it wasn’t meant that way."

Gigi Apologizes to Erica
Gigi reached out to Erica on Discord to apologize for her behavior toward IT Girl and Erica herself. She claims her actions were done in the heat of the moment and influenced by TikToks shaming Dress to Impress, which triggered her.

Ex-Owner Joins In (Pornographic Server with Minors & Stolen Ideas)
The drama doesn’t end there. Misuki_oo, one of Dress to Impress's ex-owners, posted more shocking information. At the age of 14, Gigi allegedly ran a pornographic server and sent unsolicited pornographic content to people. Here’s what Gigi had to say about this:
"Regarding the Discord server, that was made years ago. I want to be clear: no pictures of minors were ever shared. Yes, it was a NSFW server, which in hindsight is really gross and inappropriate, but at the time I was literally just a bored kid. I honestly don’t even remember much about what happened in that server. It’s something I’m deeply disgusted by now."
Misuki_oo further claimed that Dress to Impress was stolen from her team and provided alleged evidence of Gigi being racist toward her own race back in 2022.
The document reveals even darker allegations, including claims that Gigi threatened and blackmailed the owner of a Roblox game called Fashion Dolls with exploitation, sent porn to a random Muslim person, mocked one of her workers' 3D modeling, and told Coral Bay she hopes his grandmother catches him in the act of pleasuring himself. It is also alleged that Gigi didn’t add plus-sized bodies in DTI because she didn’t want inclusivity.

More Claims
Other members of the DTI team have come forward to share their experiences with Gigi’s fatphobia and bad behavior. One of the devs was accused by Gigi of faking a suicide attempt and she was very dismissive towards their attempt. Supposedly there was a groomer on the team who didn't get fired. There's a lot to unpack but we won't be focusing on detail in this article. You can read more about the situation here.

Gigi’s Statement
Gigi posted an official statement regarding the drama. She apologized to everyone she hurt and took a moment to explain that she’s part of the LGBTQ+ community and only 17 years old. She noted that many of the things she’s being canceled for happened when she was 14:
"Before I say anything, I just want to genuinely apologize for any hurt I’ve caused and for the things I’ve said that have offended anyone. I never meant to offend or upset anyone, but I get that my words and actions have impacted people, and I’m really sorry for that. I’m learning, and I know I need to be more aware, especially with a big platform. I own that. I’m committed to being better moving forward.
Half of these instances happened when I was 14, which is no way an excuse. They aren’t recent. I also want to clarify that I’m LGBTQ+ and not homophobic. I’m shaking while typing this because things I did when I was so young are coming back to haunt me now, especially since a lot of it is being twisted or taken out of context. And just to clear this up, I saw someone say I’m in my 20s. I am not. I’m currently 17."
Gigi admits that the situation is overwhelming for someone who isn’t even legally an adult and announced that she would be taking a step back to focus on her mental health.

Final Thoughts
It’s unclear what this might mean for the future of Dress to Impress. Many players are moving to IT Girl, while others argue that a person’s actions at 14 shouldn’t define them. Ultimately, everyone is free to play what they enjoy. We hope Gigi learns from this experience and takes care of her mental health, as she is still very young. We also hope that everyone involved heals from any trauma and pain that might have been caused by this situation.
