Insomniac Games, the developers behind Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has revealed that the game won't initially offer a New Game+ mode when it debuts on PlayStation 5 (PS5) this week. However, fans eager to enjoy this post-game feature won't have to wait too long.
James Stevenson, Insomniac’s community and marketing director, shared this update in response to fan inquiries, as reported by Insider Gaming. When asked if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would allow players to carry their progress into a new save file after completing the main story, Stevenson confirmed that while the development team is indeed working on a New Game+ mode, it wouldn't be available on day one.

Therefore, players who embark on Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ latest Spider-Man adventure when it launches on PS5 this Friday should be aware that they won't be able to transfer their progress immediately after completing the game.
Stevenson was asked why certain features, such as the ability to change the time of day or weather, wouldn't be accessible from day one. He responded that game development is a complex and challenging process. However, when questioned if New Game+ would be added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 before the end of 2024, Stevenson confirmed that fans of Insomniac Games could anticipate the arrival of this mode "before the end of the year."

It's worth noting that the original Marvel’s Spider-Man also launched without a New Game+ option. However, Insomniac promptly introduced support for the mode with an update, which became available about a month after the game's release. While this doesn't guarantee that a New Game+ mode for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will arrive as quickly, it's something for fans to consider.
Regardless of the timing for New Game+, Insomniac has dedicated the past few years to ensuring that the core experience of the game offers a wealth of content from the outset. Players will not need a second playthrough to access the numerous unlockable suits in the game. Moreover, the game's storyline, which lacks a co-op mode, will keep players engaged as they confront villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter while awaiting the eventual arrival of the New Game+ mode.
