World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 1 also introduced a new PvP event centered in Ashenvale due to the new Blackfathom Deeps 10-man raid being a contested point for both factions. With this new event, players will be able to battle against their opposing factions seeking to claim honor for either the Alliance or the Horde.
We will be taking a look at all of the objectives and how the event itself functions so we can get a better understanding of what changes can be implemented either based on analysis or the current community sentiment. Let's jump into the action.

What is the WoW SoD Ashenvale PvP Event?
The Battle for Ashenvale is a World PvP event triggered by PvP kills in the zone with a progress bar showing up on the top of your screen. Once the bar is filled up, the event itself will start and a leader will spawn for each of the factions.
In Season of Discovery, this is very similar to the beloved Alterac Valley battleground as smaller camps and outposts are set up throughout the zone with battlefield lieutenants guarding key objectives. Lieutenants drop green quality and quest items that will be beneficial for your character most of the time.
To win the event, you must weaken the enemy forces, including the faction leaders whose death will result in victory for the reigning faction. You will also gain access to zone-specific mounts, helms, and buffs to aid you in your conquest in this WoW Season of Discovery event.

Why The Battle for Ashenvale in WoW SoD is Bad Currently
The overwhelming majority of players are complaining that the PvP event lacks enough polish to make it worthwhile to participate in it. Many have taken to Reddit to share their frustration as the event itself only provides reputation once you kill a faction leader and the lieutenants. This undermines the entire point of fighting the enemy players as you can simply steamroll and finish the event as quickly as possible which goes against the spirit of WoW SoD.
Blizzard will need to make some adjustments to reputation gain and attempt to further balance the event itself so it does not end abruptly as the open-world PvP event has tons of potential of not only gearing up outside of the Blackfathom Deeps raid but also encouraging better interactions with players across both factions, making you feel more engrossed in fighting for your faction's cause.

The atmosphere of WoW Classic has always been nostalgic to many a player with veterans of the franchise often choosing to relive their earlier years of adventuring on Azeroth. Season of Discovery has shifted the dynamic in WoW greatly with Blizzard taking the right step of reliving past expansions so that new players can relive what it felt like to raid or PvP before Retail.
Final Thoughts
Perhaps the devs were in a hurry to release WoW SoD as the event itself has garnered a lot of attention for lacking some small but crucial details to make it more rewarding and fun for everyone to play.
