World of Warcraft Season of Discovery has many players wanting more from this new fun way of playing the much beloved Classic version of the game. With Phase 1 being a success, players are already looking to optimize their leveling experience for the second phase of SoD.
Since Phase 1 has a level cap of 25, Phase 2 will raise the level cap to 40 so that means it will start becoming more difficult to level up so a lot of players are hording their quests to get a jumpstart in terms of experience and gold.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether Blizzard Entertainment will introduce any changes since most of the player base is looking to optimize their gameplay to allow them to get ahead of the curve and get geared up much faster. We will be taking a look at what the community is considering as potential changes to Phase 2 in WoW SoD.

WoW SoD New Possible XP Gain System
Since there is no official release date for Phase 2, we can expect a rollout during January or February at the latest as per Blizzard's Classic Roadmap. Given this, some players are starting to wonder whether one of the lead devs for the project is possibly hinting at some changes to the way players can level up during Phase 2 on Twitter.

Although there is nothing concrete confirming any massive changes coming to the game, we can speculate that there might be an introduction of a new system to gain XP, since Stranglethorn Vale will be one of the major leveling zones that will be heavily contested with PvP so leveling there would be very difficult to complete quests.
NOTE: All of the information is pure speculation as we have not received official confirmation from the dev team but rather hints at a potential new way of players to gain XP.
Another concern might be that players are opting to grind out dungeons so that they can turn in quests at higher levels so they can get more gold as the reward scales with your level. Since Season of Discovery is all about exploring new and fun ways to play the game, perhaps Blizzard might tone down the XP gain from dungeons to encourage players to play the game more casually.
WoW SoD Community Speculation and Thoughts
Of course, a lot of players on Reddit are discussing the game daily and with these recent tweets, many are starting to wonder whether nothing will be changed in Phase 2 or if Blizzard is looking to provide even more ways of playing the game and leveling up without sacrificing the fun aspects of SoD.

Since Stranglethorn Vale will be a heavily-contested zone, Blizzard might be looking to add even more fun aspects to the game to encourage several ways of leveling up so that players can have options rather than feeling forced to take advantage of grinding dungeons. Since Phase 2 will introduce different armor specializations and a lot more items and profession recipes, we might see a lot of changes to the core way people opt to play WoW.
Not only will there be new runes, but Blizzard devs have shared that the new insight they have gained over Phase 1 might even bring some crucial PvP changes so there is a lot to be excited about.

Other players are remaining level-headed as the community is often very prone to react rather drastically to feedback or changes to the game so there is a chance that very minimal differences will be introduced once Phase 2 rolls out.
Summary
No matter what Blizzard decides to do for Phase 2, players should be mindful of how difficult it would be to balance the game due to the overwhelming amount of bots and gold buyers affecting the in-game economy and meta.
Since a lot of cheaters can take advantage of the base game, if Blizzard decides to introduce more ways of gaining gold and XP, then they will have to ensure that the new systems are fairly distributed without being abused by the player base for a fast and unfair advantage.
Most of the strategies implemented by Blizzard Entertainment have been ineffective in tackling the massive amount of botting and gold buying running rampant in World of Warcraft Classic. The players have not stopped providing feedback regarding this issue, but nothing much has changed so far. Hopefully, 2024 will prove to be a year when WoW returns to its roots of being the best MMORPG experience available.
