WoW SoD Phase 3 Tier List: Best DPS Classes for PvE
Blizzard

With Season of Discovery Phase 3 underway, many players are starting to wonder how their favorite class is performing in terms of DPS this time around. Last phase, we saw Melee Hunters and Shamans topping the charts as Blizzard was able to implement some changes and nerfs to allow other classes to compete alongside.

With a brand new phase around, giving players access to new runes, more abilities, and amazing gear, we are seeing some notable changes in terms of pure damage output, specifically for the new Sunken Temple 20-man Raid

With that being said, we will take a look at all of the classes that can DPS and try to figure out which ones currently sit at the very top of the charts.

WoW SoD Phase 3 DPS Tier List

We will rank each class in separate tiers, starting from the worst-performing to the very best. We will determine the viability based on current builds, strategies, and items found so far in Season of Discovery. We might see some notable changes as the devs adjust the power level, should they see underperforming specs.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 D-Tier DPS Classes

Subtlety Rogue

Subtlety Rogue

This spec has been awful for quite some time in PvE, so you'd best avoid playing it.

Frost Mage

Frost Mage

Frost Mages have been very underwhelming so far in Phase 3, Fire Mages are simply much better at dealing damage.

Arcane Mage

Arcane Mage

Arcane Mages have fallen to new lows in Phase 3, as it seems Blizzard has intended players to focus on being a semi-decent healer than damage-dealer.

Combat Roguer

Combat Rogue

Although Combat Rogues can be placed a bit higher, overall, their damage is not as great as other specs.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 C-Tier DPS Classes

Elemental Shaman

Elemental Shaman

Although you can deal some sufficient damage and bring a lot of utility, most raids would prefer to take an Enhancement Shaman.

Destruction Warlock

Destruction Warlock

Destro Warlocks might see a shift in power as more and more players start acquiring gear, and although the sims are currently not amazing, perhaps Blizzard will lend them a hand damage-wise.

Demonology Warlock

Demonology Warlock

Not great, not terrible, you would be better off playing Destro of Affliction.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 B-Tier DPS Classes

Fire Mage

Fire Mage

Fire Mages are late bloomers as we might see their position changing later in the phase.

Survival Hunter

Survival Hunter

Although you can still pump out a lot of damage, most players prefer going for Beast Mastery.

Retribution Paladin

Retribution Paladin

Although the damage is not as great as other classes, the amount of utility you bring to a raid is not to be underestimated.

Affliction Warlock

Affliction Warlock

Affliction Warlock is difficult to pinpoint due to the low amount of players playing the spec, however, they can still bring a lot of damage with the new rune that allows their DoTs to crit.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 A-Tier DPS Classes

Feral Druid

Feral DPS

Feral is also pumping hard this time around, as the utility you add to your group as well as the increased bleed damage is amazing.

Marksmanship Hunter

Marksmanship Hunter

Ranged Hunters are feeling very weak in comparison to their melee counterpart. Although you might get a lot more damage from the encounters in Sunken Temple, melee is still proving superior.

Balance Druid

Balance Druid

Although there is more left to be desired damage-wise, Boomkins can be great off-healers and provide some amazing buffs to other casters in the raid.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 S-Tier DPS Classes

Shadow Priest

Shadow Priest

Shadow Priest can do massive amounts of damage, and coupled with the utility they bring, you can not go wrong with taking an SP in your group.

Fury Warrior

Fury Warrior

Currently one of the best DPS classes as Warriors are finally reaching their rightful spot as the kings of damage.

Arms Warrior

Arms Warrior

Although lacking behind Fury, Arms can see some play here and there. Hopefully, Blizzard decides to give Arms some extra power to make them on the same level as Fury.

Enhancement Shaman

Enhancement Shaman

The better halve of the Elemental Shaman, Enhancement is one of the specs currently in the game.

Beast Mastery Hunter

Beast Mastery Hunter

Melee Hunters are once again very powerful as the damage you deal with your pet can easily outpace the ranged build.

Assassination Rogue

Assassination Rogue

Rogues have received a lot of love in Phase 3 as the poison damage and utility are one of the key staples to bringing this class to S-Tier.

And that covers all of the DPS classes in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 3. We will make sure to update the tier list and add more information as players slowly start to figure out the best build and strategies to utilize in Sunken Temple.
