Blizzard has upped the ante this time around. Not only are players joining the festivities around World of Warcraft's 20-year Anniversary, but the devs have also revamped the beloved Blackrock Depths into a raid for players to clear. With familiar and new bosses, the difficulty has definitely spiked as many guilds and pugs are struggling to clear the instance on the Normal and Heroic difficulties.
With that being said, we can expect some tuning in the following days so the fights should get much easier (hopefully). Some players have noticed that the raid is much easier on lower-level characters as 80-level clears are downright impossible. Having that in mind, we will go over the first boss you will encounter in the new BRD raid - Lord Roccor.

Blackrock Depths Raid Lord Roccor Abilities
Although being the first boss of the raid, Lord Roccor has some mechanics you need to pay attention to, otherwise a wipe will be more than guaranteed.
- Roiling Magma - Lord Roccor creates pools of lava that you need to avoid as they deal a lot of damage.
- Crystallize - Lord Roccor transforms a Roiling Magma pool into a powerful add (Son of Roccor) you need to kick.
- Slag Armor - Son of Roccor casts a powerful damaging dot which increases damage taken. You need to kick it every time.
- Eruption - Lord Roccor creates Living Magma throughout the room which then spawn three separate adds you need to step over to prevent more powerful adds from spawning after the boss casts Crystallize.
- Volcanic Upheaval - at 100 energy, Lord Roccor starts channeling a raid-wide AoE that deals massive damage.

Blackrock Depths Raid Lord Roccor Tips
This fight will require a lot of coordination and cleave damage so we recommend running an AoE build. Since the cap for the raid is set to 15, you can try running a 2-4-9 or even 2-3-10, depending on the composition. Here are some general tips for all roles:
Tanks
- Your main priorities will be to kite the boss away from Roiling Magma and taunt adds as they come up so DPS can cleave them down ASAP.
- There are no taunt swaps so you can designate a tank for the boss and one for the adds.
Healers
- Save big cooldowns for Volcanic Upheaval as the damage can be quite big.
- Try to help out the DPS when stomping on the Living Magma.
DPS
- Make sure to save your mobility cooldowns to deal with the Living Magma blobs as they are scattered across the entire room.
- Cleave and kick the adds
And that covers everything you need to know about the Lord Roccor encounter in the new Blackrock Depths raid. Best of luck and remember to take part in all of the festivities for WoW's 20th Anniversary.
