Wuthering Waves: Best Yuanwu Build Guide

Yuanwu is one of the standard 4-star characters in Wuthering Waves that you can obtain through the Permanent Convene and for free from the Tower of Adversity. He's an Electro Gauntlet user who uniquely scales with the DEF stat and provides niche support to the team.

In this guide, we'll show you the best way to build him so you can have the best hybrid character possible for your team.

Yuanwu provides some damage in Wuthering Waves but also, more significantly, several distinct support abilities. Yuanwu, unlike most other Hybrid characters, does not offer many damage bonuses beyond those available through Echoes and Sets.

What he does provide, however, is a unique team-wide Anti-Interruption buff that decreases knockback and stun, as well as the ability to inflict extra break bar damage to somewhat accelerate the rate at which foes, particularly bosses, become vulnerable.

Yuanwu spends exceptionally little time on the field due to his quick rotation, only enough to use his Forte Gauge, ultimate, and set his Thunder Wedge. You can spend a bit more time on him to unleash some lightning-infused attacks, but due to their low multipliers, they will often inflict less damage than most other options on teams.

Yuanwu is easy to play as a Hybrid character in Wuthering Waves. All you have to do is maintain his Thunder Wedge on the enemy, activate his enhanced skill when his Forte is full, and then utilize your ultimate on cooldown.

While the wedge is in place, Yuanwu generates Forte Gauge, and if a target inside its radius takes damage, Yuanwu launches a coordinated attack up to once every 1.2 seconds, causing damage according to his DEF and creating extra Forte Gauge.

Yuanwu: Best Weapons

Amity Accord is the best weapon choice for Yuanwu, as it provides a ton of DEF% and a useful Resonance Liberation damage boost. Another interesting option would be the 3-star Originite: Type IV gauntlets with the unique function of adding healing to a character's kit causing their Basic Attacks to restore a small amount of health. This passive procs the 5P Rejuvenating Glow set.

Summary

As a Hybrid character, Yuanwu does some damage on his own, so running a damaging set and echo can be a good choice. Still, it's worth noting that the damage portion of most offensive echoes scale with ATK%. In contrast, all of Yuanwu's best damaging abilities scale with DEF%, implying that his offensive Echo will do much less than usual.

Yuanwu can also sacrifice some of his damage to equip the 5P Moonlit Clouds set, which will provide his team with offensive buffs, or if there is no eligible wearer or user of the 5P Rejuvenating Glow echo set, Yuanwu can use it at the cost of trading his weapon choice for Originite: Type IV.

Overall, Yuanwu is a fascinating character who does not need to spend much time on the field and may supply the team with some interesting boosts, but he's currently restricted by the lack of Echoes and Sets that can improve his damage due to his DEF scaling.
