Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.2 is finally out, and with it, we got to welcome a new addition to the roster, the one and only Caesar King. With Caesar joining the roster of ZZZ, we have some slight changes to the Tier List and meta overall.
Below you can find which agents are currently meta and worth building.
Table of Contents
Tier List Explanation
This tier list will look at the best agents in Zenless Zone Zero 1.2 and divide them into 4 tiers based on strength and usability at M0.
- S-Tier: Current meta agents. These characters are the strongest and can fit into a lot of teams, helping you easily clear any form of content.
- A-Tier: Slightly weaker than S-Tier characters, mainly because they are more limited when it comes to team building.
- B-Tier: Agents in this tier are strong but require moderate to high investment to be useful.
- C-Tier: Agents in this tier are generally not recommended to spend resources on as they require a lot of setup to be good.
Note: Although this tier list strives to be as objective as possible in terms of viability, you should not limit yourself to strictly adhering to this list, but rather experiment and see which agent is fun for you!

S-Tier Agents
The S-Tier Agents in ZZZ Version 1.2 include:
- Caesar King
- Ellen
- Zhu Yuan
- Jane Doe
- Lycaon
- Qingyi
Explanation
Caesar is the newest agent added to the game, and she’s the go-to support unit to pick up right now. She can buff, stun, and even shield your whole team, while also being versatile enough that you can use her in any setup. You should build her if you have her. And if not, what are you waiting for?
Despite releasing in 1.0, Ellen is still one of the strongest DPS characters in the game. Given that a lot of the end-game modes often have enemies that are weak to Ice, Ellen is going to be part of the meta for a long time and is worth investing in.
Zhu Yuan is one of only two Ether Agents, and being a main DPS makes her crucial to have in modes where enemies have Ether weaknesses. She is a great burst DPS agent who can deal a ridiculous amount of damage and is worth building.

Jane Doe is the first premium Anomaly Agent that players got, and she’s up in the S-Tier for a reason. Her ability to deal ridiculous damage with Assault Crits swifts ZZZ into an easy mode, allowing you to clear any of the end-game modes without difficulty.
Despite being one of the standard agents, Lycaon is a crucial part of Ellen’s best team and is also the only Ice Stun Agent, making him indispensable in the current version of the game. Couple that with his ability to easily stun enemies, and you can see why he’s easily in the S-Tier.
Qingyi is a powerhouse when it comes to stunning enemies and increasing your Stun DMG Multiplier. She’s a great unit to have on a ton of teams, and she creates opportunities for some ridiculous burst damage windows.

A-Tier Agents
The A-Tier Agents in ZZZ Version 1.2 include:
- Grace
- Koleda
- Nicole
- Soukaku
- Seth
Explanation
Grace is a decent choice for both a main DPS and a sub-DPS. Her ability to quickly apply Shock is great in any Electric team, and she pairs well with Jane Doe for a solid Disorder team core.
Koleda is one of the original stunners and is also the only Fire Stunner as of Version 1.2. She is great at building Daze through her skill and doesn’t require a ton of field time, which makes her great for teams with on-field hungry carries such as Soldier 11.
Nicole is one of the Agents everyone gets when they first start, and she’s honestly amazing. Not only is she able to group enemies, but she can also increase both Ether DMG and overall DMG by debuffing enemies, making her a good pick in almost any team.
Soukaku is the other premium support unit besides Nicole. She is great at both increasing the team’s ATK and reducing their Ice Resistance, making her one of the best supports in any Ice-based team.
Seth is the latest support/defense unit to be added to the game, and he’s currently the best, if not the only, Anomaly support. He’s a must-pick in any Anomaly team, and that is likely to remain the case for some time. So if you’re planning on building Anomaly teams, then you should consider investing in him.

B-Tier Agents
The B-Tier Agents in ZZZ Version 1.2 include:
- Nekomata
- Soldier 11
- Piper
- Anby
- Lucy
- Rina
Explanation
Nekomata is a solid DPS character, but unfortunately, she tends to be somewhat harder to play than other DPS units, while also having more limited teams and lower overall damage potential.
Soldier 11 suffers from the same problems as Nekomata. The timing on her Basic Attacks needs some getting used to, and if you do not have a good set of Drive Discs, you might say goodbye to clearing Shinyu 7 with an S.
Piper was considered the premium Physical Anomaly unit before Jane Doe’s release, but after she quickly dropped on the list, Jane Doe is simply better in every way. That is not to say that Piper is bad; she can still proc Assault quickly and is a good unit to have in any Disorder team.
Anby is one of the free characters that you get at the beginning of the game and is also a decent Electric Stunner to get you started on your journey. That being said, she somewhat fell off due to the introduction of Qingyi but is still usable in a ton of teams, the most famous ones being Jane Doe, Seth, and Anby.
Lucy is a decent support who is not bad in any way; however, she’s simply overshadowed by all of the other supports currently in the game. Additionally, the lack of a solid Fire DPS makes her a bit clunky to use at the moment. That being said, she can easily climb up in the future.
Rina is one of the standard S-Rank Agents, and despite this, she is not as great as everyone originally thought her to be. PEN Reduction is a bit of an awkward debuff to manage and is not as powerful as, let’s say a flat DMG or ATK increase. That being said, Rina’s ability to increase Shock duration is amazing in Electric Teams.

C-Tier Agents
The C-Tier Agents in ZZZ Version 1.2 include:
- Anton
- Billy
- Corin
- Ben
Explanation
Anton is a bit of an oddball. He’s able to dish out a ton of damage with his Ultimate, even reaching upwards of 1,000,000 damage. That being said, he is generally limited to Shock teams and is not useful anywhere else. He is also highly reliant on Mindscapes, so unless you have him at M6, you might want to hold off on building him.
Billy is in a similar position to Anton. He’s the Agent with arguably the highest damage potential in the game, but he’s extremely hard to play and optimize efficiently. Those who’ve mastered him can do some crazy clears, but he’s not recommended for beginners.
Corin is one of the free Agents everyone received as part of the pre-registration rewards. She is a good Physical carry, being able to quickly proc Assault and deal a lot of damage. But given the release of Jane and just overall Physical Anomaly Agents being better, she’s not seeing a ton of usage.
Ben is in an awkward place as a character, as his biggest gimmick is his shield-generating ability, which is not that useful in the grand scheme of things. As it stands right now, he’s an inferior version of Caesar and a character that might not be worth investing in unless you’re committed to him.

Summary
Despite what you might see in the tier list above, it is important to remember that Zenless Zone Zero is a gacha game in which you can clear any, and we mean any type of content if you have decently built characters. You can even consider that the tier list simply shows how easy or hard a character is to build, rather than showing if they’re good or not. Yes, there are some nuances here or there, but do not let the tier list limit you from choosing specific agents. Play with whoever you want!
That being said, here is a summary table of the ZZZ Agents tier list for version 1.2.
