The livestream for the 1.4 version of Zenless Zone Zero took place earlier today, and it revealed some groundbreaking news regarding the gacha system of the game. Normally, the banners for each version would be split into two phases, with each phase lasting roughly three weeks, forcing the players to choose whether to spend on the first half and save after, or skip the first half and save for the second. Well, this will not be the case in Version 1.4, as both newly added limited S-Rank Agents will be available throughout the whole version!

Gacha Changes
The banner system for Version 1.4 will be different from all previous versions. Unlike the two-phase schedule that we have gotten used to ever since the launch of ZZZ and all of HoYo’s other games, Version 1.4 will feature a new take on the banner system by introducing 2 character and 2 w-engine banners at the same time. Having 4 banners at the same time is nothing new, but it is certainly new to see both banners be those of new characters.

What This Means for Players
No matter how one decides to look at it, this is a positive change for the game. This is because players will not be able to try both new characters at the same time. By doing so, you will be able to get a better perspective on whether you like a certain character or not and be able to form a better decision on which character you should pull for. Unlike before, you will now not be faced with having to make the choice to skip the first phase of the version, because you might potentially like the characters that are coming in the second phase.
This will eliminate a lot of worries that players might experience and will drastically reduce the FOMO effect that HoYo’s games are famous for. In addition, there is also one more positive to this change. The second great point about this change is that players will now have way more time to gather premium currency and get the characters they want. Unlike before, where players only had 3 weeks to save, now you’ll have roughly 5 weeks to make a decision on whether to pull or not. This means that you will not only be able to get all the Polychromes from all events, but you will get through a new cycle in the Shiyu Defense while also getting a ton of Polychromes from dailies. Does this mean that the gacha system is now perfect? Well, not, of course. It’s a gacha system after all, but I believe that this change will greatly affect the FOMO effect that the game has going for it currently and will overall bring about a positive change. All in all, I believe this is a great change that will only boost the players’ engagement with the game.
