WoW Season of Discovery: All Hunter Runes & Locations So Far

World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 1 will have 12 different runes for each of the 9 classes in the game. We will be providing updates as soon as we have more information regarding the Hunter runes and their locations. Given the incredible interest from players for WoW SoD, we will most probably find out a lot of new changes and content in Azeroth.

We will be taking a look at all of the runes and their locations so you can fully optimize your builds and find your unique playstyle in WoW Classic+. Let's get started!

WoW SoD Hunter Runes & Locations

Aspect of the Lion Rune - Chest

8% of base mana
Instant cast

The hunter takes on the aspects of a lion, increasing total stats by 10% for all nearby allies, and increasing total stats for the Hunter by an additional 10%. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.

Aspect of the Lion Rune Locations

• Alliance & Horde: Go to a cave in the Wetlands (coordinates 42, 64). You have to kill the elite owl Carrodin.

Master Marksman Rune - Chest

Increases your critical strike chance by 5%, and reduces the Mana cost of all your Shot abilities by 25%.

Master Marksman Rune Locations

• Dwarf: You will need to find a Rustling Bush (coordinates 29, 49) in Dun Morogh. You will need to use your Hunter's Mark ability on the bus and kill the mob that spawns from the bush to get the rune.
  
• Night Elf: You will need to find a Rustling Bush (coordinates 46.6, 46.3) in Teldrassil. You will need to use your Hunter's Mark ability on the bus and kill the mob that spawns from the bush to get the rune.
• Orc/Troll: You will need to find a Rustling Bush (coordinates 38, 52) west of Razor Hill. You will need to use your Hunter's Mark ability on the bus and kill the mob that spawns from the bush to get the rune.
• Tauren: You will need to find a Rustling Bush (coordinates 59.02, 54.38) in Mulgore. You will need to use your Hunter's Mark ability on the bus and kill the mob that spawns from the bush to get the rune.

Lone Wolf Rune - Chest

You deal 15% increased damage with all attacks while you do not have an active pet.

Lone Wolf Rune Locations

• Alliance & Horde:
  

1. Go to Ratchet in the Barrens and talk to Grizzby in the Inn. For his quests, you have to collect the following materials:

• 24x  Fish Oil (Murlocs and Naga from e.g. Hillsbrad Foothills).
• 20x  Dark Iron Ordinance (drops from Dark Iron Dwarfs in Wetlands).
• 16x  Shredder Turbocharger (Crafted by Engineering. Recipe is a drop from Sneed in Deadmines).

Cobra Strikes Rune - Chest

Your critical hits with Shot abilities cause your pet's next 2 special attacks to critically hit.

Cobra Strikes Rune Locations

• Alliance & Horde:
  

1. Purchase Freshwater Snapper Bait from Zixil who is traveling on the main road in the Hillsbrad Foothills.
2. Go to the lake southeast of Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills.
3. Use Freshwater Snapper Bait on a small boat at the lake to spawn a Level 25 Elite turtle. The turtle drops the rune.

Sniper Training Rune - Legs

Your Shot abilities gain 10% increased critical strike chance while you have not moved for the last 6 sec.

Sniper Training Rune Locations

• Horde: 

1. You will need to go to Ratchet and talk to Kilxx by the docks.
2. Once you purchase a Fishing Harpoon, head into the bay and find Bruuz circling a boat at the bottom.
3. You will then have to use the harpoon to lower the shark's health, kill him, and you will get the rune.
   

• Alliance: Drops from Level 17 Elite Defias Scout in Westfall (coordinates 52, 53).
• Dwarf: Drops from Elite Crocolisk Kackle around (coordinates 52, 53) in Loch Modan
• Night Elf: 

1. Pick up Gnarled Harpoon in Darkshore (coordinates 40, 32) from Beached Sea Turtle
2. Take Gnarled Harpoon to (coordinates 50, 14) and kill Paxnozz.

Kill Command Rune - Legs

3% of base mana, 5 yd range
Instant cast, 1 min cooldown

Give the command to kill, increasing your pet's damage done from special attacks by 60% for 30 sec.  Each special attack done by the pet reduces the damage bonus by 20%.

Kill Command Rune Locations

• Alliance & Horde:
  

1. Go to  Ashenvale and kill Furbolgs, until they drop Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic.
2. Combine Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic with Greater Magic Wand. Greater Magic Wand is crafted by Enchanters.
3. Defeat Mutanus the Devourer in the Wailing Caverns dungeon.
4. Go to Stonetalon Mountain to Jixo Madrocket (coordinates 60, 62)
5. Give him the items to get your rune.

Serpent Spread Rune - Legs

Targets hit by your Multi-Shot are also afflicted by your Serpent Sting for 6 sec.

Serpent Spread Rune Locations

• Alliance: Can be purchased from the Azeroth Commerce Authority faction for 4 Gold 50 Silver once Honored has been achieved.
• Horde: Can be purchased from the Durotar Supply and Logistics faction for 4 Gold 50 Silver once Honored has been achieved.

Flanking Strikes Rune - Legs

3% of base mana, Melee Range
Instant cast, 30 sec cooldown

You and your pet deal simultaneous instant 100% melee damage. Afterward, your Mongoose Bite and Raptor Strike deal 10% increased damage for 10 sec, stacking up to 3 times. Raptor Strike has a 20% chance to reset the cooldown on Flanking Strike.

Flanking Strikes Rune Locations

• Night Elf: You will need to summon and kill Mowgh by using Teldrassil Bird Meat (coordinates 48.3, 31.4) to get the rune.
• Orc/Troll: You will need to summon and kill Raluk by using Durotar Pig Meat (coordinates 68.7, 71.4) to get the rune.
• Tauren: You will need to summon and kill Mokwa by using Mulgore Bird Meat (coordinates 36, 57) to get the rune.
• Dwarf: You will need to summon and kill Jorul by using Dun Morogh Pig Meat (coordinates 39, 43).

Beast Mastery Rune - Gloves

Your pet's damage and health are increased by 30%, and its Focus regeneration by 80%. In addition, your pet's Growl now also Taunts the target to attack it for 3 sec.

Beast Mastery Rune Locations

• Alliance (Westfall): You will need to get Goretusk Haunch from Goretusk mobs in the zone. You will then need to use this as bait near a Coyote Dwelling near the coast to spawn and kill Silverspur to get the rune.
  
• Alliance (Darkshore): You will need to get Crab Treats from Furbolg mobs and bring them to Young Reef Crawler (coordinates 37,55), (40, 31).
• Alliance (Loch Modan): The rune is in a cabinet inside the building behind Daryl the Youngling (coordinates 83, 65).
• Horde (Silverpine Forest): Kill Ferocious Grizzled Bear until Grizzled Protector is summoned and drops the rune. 

Chimera Shot Rune - Gloves

12% of base mana, 8 - 35 yd range
6-sec cooldown

You deal 125% weapon damage, refreshing the current Sting on your target and triggering an effect:

Serpent Sting - Instantly deals 40% of the damage done by your Serpent Sting.

Viper Sting - Instantly restores mana to you equal to 60% of the total amount drained by your Viper Sting.

Scorpid Sting - Attempts to Disarm the target for 10 sec. This effect cannot occur more than once per 1 minute.

Chimera Shot Rune Locations

• Orc: You will need to pick up the Hunt for the Rune quest from Jen'Shan and kill Scorpid Workers to get the rune.
• Troll: You will need to pick up the Rugged Terrain quest from Jen'Shan and kill Scorpid Workers to get the rune.
• Tauren: You will need to pick up the А Hunter's Strength quest from Lanka Farshot and kill Bristleback Battleboars to get the rune.
• Night Elf: You will need to pick up the А Hunter's Strength quest from Ayanna Everstride and kill Githyiss the Vile to get the rune.
• Dwarf: You will need to pick up the Trek Through the Caves quest from Thorgas Grimson and kill Frostmane Trolls to get the rune.

Explosive Shot Rune - Gloves

7% of base mana, 8 - 35 yd range
6-sec cooldown

You fire an explosive charge into the enemy target, dealing (Ranged attack power *0.14 + 103/100 *)-(Ranged attack power *0.14 + 155/100*) Fire damage. The charge will blast the target every second for an additional 2 sec. Cooldown shared with Arcane Shot.

Explosive Shot Rune Locations

• Orc/Troll: You will need to kill Sarkoth to get the rune.
  
• Dwarf: You will need to kill Egan the Howler to get the rune.
• Tauren: You will need to kill Arra'chea to get the rune.

Carve Rune - Gloves

8% of base mana, Melee Range
Instant cast, 6-sec cooldown

A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for 50% weapon damage.

Carve Rune Locations

• Dwarf: You will need to use Rabbit Musk (dropped by Rockjaw mobs) to tame a Rabbit. Once tamed, speak to Toby at Amberstill Ranch.
  
• Night Elf: You will need to use Deer Musk (dropped by Furbolg mobs) to tame a Deer. Once tamed, speak to the NPC next to the Hunter Trainer in Darnassus.
  
• Tauren: You will need to use Prairie Dog Musk (dropped by Palamane mobs) to tame a Prairie Dog. Once tamed, speak to Takoda Sunmane in Bloodhoof Village.
• Orc/Troll: You will need to use Adder Pheromone (dropped by Razormane mobs) to tame an Adder. Once tamed, speak to the Snake Charmer in Razor Hill.
